NWR Question for those who have bought or are about to buy a Co-Op..

Is it normal to wait over a month for the co-op board to set up an interview?
After the interview do they tell you right away if your approved ???
Are they really strict with the people they allow to buy??

I think it all depends on where you are looking. It does take awhile to set up the interview especially if you are meeting with the majority of the board. They don't get paid to do the job, it's all volunteer work so they need to coordinate a time on top of everything else to meet with you.

I guess its just a long process and with the summer and people on vacation it might take a little longer..

it usually takes longer during the summers to get an interview because the members are on vacation. I know my board doens't do any interviews in august for this reason. it may take longer since we've hit summer.

II htink it depends on the time in the month I owned a coop and the coop board only met once a month. Good luck on your interview.!!!!!!!

Have you submitted your financials yet? Many co-ops have monthly meetings for different boards. Mine has and admissions group and I believe they meet 2x a month. I have had mine for 10 years and don't remember how long it took.
You will be fine.....Good Luck!!!

once we finished handing in all of our financial information, we had an interview 3 weeks later. We found out that we had passed on the following day.

good luck! We're closing on our co-op in 2 weeks and are beyond thrilled!
