NWR: RANT x 100000

So, I decided that to afford a wedding I need to get a 2nd job. I have lots of waitressing experience, so I've been looking for somewhere to work. I saw on craigslist that Smokin' Als in Bayshore is hiring all positions. I've been there before and its always packed, and its close to my day job so I figured it would be the perfect place. I just spent my lunch break driving there to fill out an application. The guy (I'm assuming he was the owner) was the biggest D*CK!!! First of all, he looked at me like I was crap when I walked in and told him I'd seen the ad on craigslist. Then he tells me that they don't hire outside waitresses that I would need to start by bussing tables. I said fine, I'll still fill out an application (they tip out their bussers and food runners). I fill out the form he gives me and hand it to him. He asks where I currently work. When I tell him he very nastily says 'Where? What is that?' (I am an estimator at an electrical contracting business) I explain to him what I do and he ROLLS HIS EYES! He asks what time I can work during the week, I tell him I can be there by 5:15. He says 'That's too late, all MY employees get here by 5.' I'd had enough of his attitude and dirty looks by this point so I crumpled up the application and told him to forget it. Then i smiled sweetly and quite sarcastically thanked him for being such a nice guy. What a jerk. Why post an ad for waitresses if you don't hire them?!?! I purposely went when I knew it wouldn't be busy so I wouldn't be in the way, was all smiley and nice and he still treats me like I'm a parasite. Sorry to vent gals...I'm a little sensitive these days...but this guy really was a jerk. Anyone know where I can get a second job making at least a couple hundred a week?

ugh, i hate when people are ***holes. just not cool. don't let him get to you though, he's not worth it.

I cant believe how much of an @ss this guy was!!!!
Smoken Al's gets crossed off the list of places to go to............
There are other places!!!! Im wanting to get a second job myself. idealy I would like an off the books job or somthing but I'll take whatever I can get. What stinks for me is that I work in the city and I would only be able to work weekends.

What a JERK!!!!!!!! You did the right thing by taking hte application back, too - I wouldn't want him having my information considering what a jerk he was!!

that's the pits!!! what a jerk-- better off you found out then-- who would want to work for a guy like that?! well, i actually got hired at california pizza kitchen in huntington (walt whitman mall) but i didn't take the job b/c it would have been too much for me... but they were great, very nice and the place is always packed... they are the only restaurant in the mall so they do GREAT business. he told me around x-mas time (which is coming up, yay!!) they are insane!!! everyone there makes great money. HTH!!

He's an A5S His head got big with the success of his restaurant. Don't let him get to you. He is obviously a turkey and you don't need a boss like that!
