I am out of birth control refills and I called my doctor to have her fax in a prescription. The receptionist said she can't refill it until i come in for my annual exam. The next appt. was July 17th. ***? No BC until July 17th? Looks like I may get preggo before the wedding. I'm so mad that they would do that. Has this happened to anyone else?

They should provide you with enough to last to the appointment. Thats what my place did. I have the exam next week and i went in last week to pick up a box. I would call and talk to someone else.

call your family dr, they should be able to call you in 1 month until your appt.

Mine makes me come every 6 months, but I have an appointment soon, they will give it to me. When was your last appt? They can't give you a sample until then?

they should give it to you if it takes that long to get an appt maybe they will see you sooner if they think you are preggo, so you can call and say you need emergency appt ..

I've had this happen before...I beg and plead they call in a one time perscription, I go to the doc, and then I make sure and get all the samples they can give me....

Yea my doctor wont give me a presription until I go in for my exam. But i have other issues so maybe thats why she demands to check me first? Who knows

definitely call back and ask to speak with the doc directly...they should give you enough to last until you're annual!

My last appt was a year ago...I'm going to try again tomorrow and see if I can talk to the doctor directly

That is terrible, I've run out of refills by accident and they would always call in one script knowing I was coming in for my check up that month!

their supposed to give u a free pack to use until your next appointment. thats what my doctor did.

that has happened to me. but they should know that most health insurance only allows for '1 yearly routine exam'. I made my yearly exam prior to the one year date, thinking I am being timely and responsible, only to find out I HAD TO PAY FOR IT.. insurance didnt cover a yearly 2x in a year. So I tried to tell the doctor I was there for other reasons, eventho nothing was really wrong.
they should really write you a Rx to hold you over till the visit. If not, try your family dr. I have also gone to a walk-in place where they have written it for me too..

Thanks for all of your quick responses chicas! Hopefully the doctor will write a prescription if I talk to her directly. I am leaving for NY tomorrow for my bachelorette party so hopefuly it can get done before then. What a pain! Thanks again!

I hate when they do that. I feel like they are holding the pills hostage. It's really not so good for your body to go on and then off and then on again so really push them until they give it to you. Or, as the other girls said, try your GP or one of those walk-in places.

All the time. I make an appointment then they will refill one month to hold me over. You should ask them that and say I need them now!
