My friends from CT are taking the train into the city to take me out for the wedding - anybody know of any good restaurants in the Penn Station/Grand Central area? Or anywhere else if they're really good! Thanks - I can't think of any!
Ok now they changed their mind and would like to go somewhere besides Times Square and it has to have some vegetarian choices lol picky crowd...

Re: NWR: restaurants in city
there are some great ones near GCS, Cipriani is expensive but has nice views of the grand central lobby area. Lotsa other ones around there too! The Beer Bar is on the same block, they have tons of beer choices if you like that.

If you want to be near Times Square, I'd recommend the Theater District, a little farther west. There are some nice Italian restaurants there that would be good for vegetarians, and a couple of Thai places too, like Yum Yum Bangkok on W. 46th St. I generally think the restaurants are better and cheaper downtown and eat out a lot near Union Square. FM me if you'd like specific suggestions.

Re: NWR: restaurants in city
I live by Union Square, so most of my favs are downtown:
Sushi Samba (Brazilian/Japanese) Japonais (Brazilian/Japanese) Blue Water Grill (Fish) Rosa Mexicana (Spanish) Cafe Mogador (Mediterranean) La Palapa (Mexican)
If you want to stay in Midtown, I love:
Del Friscos (steak) Uncle Nicks (casual greek) Josies (Organic American)
Let me know if you are looking for something in particular...

Thanks for all of the suggestions! It doesn't have to be a bar, but it could be... Anyone know of a Japanese Steak House around there?
