NWR: Resume HELP

Hey Ladies

Need help in retyping my resume...since I can't seem to find it...must have been deleted somehow....

Here's my question...what would be a good objective?

My background, have a BS in the health field, worked in an insurance company as a care manager and now back to school for nursing and in my last year. I am currently looking for per diem jobs in the meantime. The GAP is just not cutting it for me!

TIA

Bianca

im not sure if you really need to put an objective.... i think its the cover letter where you relly get to explain yourself and your assests and goals

That's what I thought...but the template I'm using from microsoft has it in the actual resume part...I guess I can just omit that part.

THanks

This is a great, general straight to the point objective.

THANK YOU!

It's obvious you are looking for a job so I'd say don't worry about an objective. I don't have one on mine and I haven't seen any on others I've reviewed. It's the way we learned when we were younger, but it really isn't necessary.

Edited to add: Good luck!!

I don't think you need to list an objective.

IMO, its an unecessary line that just takes up valuable room on a resume .... it really doesnt say much bc its a bunch of BS that interviewers have read over n over again ...

Re: NWR: Resume HELP

I changed my resume recently and honestly made such a difference.

I read alot of articles on this and websites that gave advice. They said to take out the objective, that its old fashioned. They do NOT want to see the objective that says 'to acquire a position in a company offering room for professional growth' and all that. They say that basically in the objective all it says is the type of company you are looking for mainly and really doesnt sell you to the company at all. They are looking more for what you can do for the company then just what they can do for you. Even a recruiter told me to take out the objective bc most companies dont want to see this anymore

So instead, use the first paragraph to sell yourself. whatever experience you have say 'top-not X with 5 years of experience' and continue on with why you are qualified for this position. Experience in problem solving and excellent computer skills and whatever you can do to sell yourself. If you google sample resumes you can see how this is done and find sample resumes for the same position to get an idea of what qualifications to write

This is my obj ...' Evolve to the next phase of my career by becoming a trusted integral human resource generalist within a company that will allow me to utilize my current knowledge, thereby gain personal and professional growth.'

Its not a waste of space, trust me, Ive had potential employers tell me how much they like it and value it, but I guess its more focused on a career .. it depends on what you are applying for. Its always good to have an objective
