Can anyone recommend a really good romantic restaurant in the city (preferably Italian)? One of my colleagues is going on a date & we're trying to think of where they should go, price is no object in this case.
TIA!

If price is no object, I love One if by Land, Two if by Sea. It's very romantic and the food is really good, too, although not quite Italian (more like American-French). Candela is also beautiful and romantic.

I was just about to suggest Candella-- love that place!
I've heard Eros is ultraromantic, but I've never been there and it's not Italian...

LOL. That's great! I do love those two restaurants, even if I didn't get engaged there.

Gigino in Tribeca. It's where we had our first date and where we went after we got engaged.
Do not go to the one in Battery Park though. It's not romantic at all

There is this little place called la stanza verde on restaurant row near the Theater District that was absolutely adorable, quaint and delicious!

To me, romantic is an intimate setting, good food, candlelight and nice wine.....but not necessarily a fancy-schmancy place. When FH and I are feelin that extra romance urge, we head down to Positano in Little Italy- it is absolutely beautiful.

You must, must, must go to Il Mulino in the West Village. It's amazing and all the lawyers from my firm rave about it. It's also down the block from my old law school apartment It's pretty expensive but WELL worth it!

I use to go there all the time. It is now closed though and another restaurant is there which I have yet to be in. La Stanza changed hands a few years ago and when I went the food was horrible and the place was dirty, shortly thereafter it closed. It was a great place years ago though

I'd say Candela if you're looking for Italian romantic. One if By Land, Two if By Sea is great too but not Italian.

There's a great Italian place in mid-town called Il Tinello - on 56th I believe, between 5th and 6th?? in that area anyway. GREAT food and service, small place, and you can get anything custom made any way you'd like. Everyone has Italian accents and it's pretty fancy. Food and service have always been amazing.
One if by Land, Two if by Sea I've heard is the most romantic although not really Italian - I want to go there!

My absolute favorite restaurant in the city is Erminia. It is a little Italian restaurant in the Upper East Side. It is reminiscent of an old Tuscan house with candles and amazing food. They are very courteous and accommodating.
