NWR: Sad news

Original post by Becks526

FH was reading Newsday on-line, and all of a sudden gasped - there is an article about a multi-car accident that killed one person an injured several others. The woman killed is his college professor's wife. His professor was also injured and is in the hospital. They were going to see their son graduate from CW Post.

I feel so bad, and FH is in shock. I've met his professor before, but not his wife. They were going to be at our wedding. It's just so terrible. I hope that his injuries aren't severe and that he's okay. Please send him your thoughts and prayers.

Here's the article:

God, that is so sad, I hope the father/husband is ok, and that he and his son can be strong enough, for each other, to deal with their loss.

I just realized, every accident my FH has ever been in was someone else's fault, and the last one was a very bad one, the car flipped and everything..that god he was ok, it's so scary thinking that even if you drive good, you can stiil get hurt because of other reckless drivers...

Thanks for all your hugs and prayers. FH talked to some people back at UConn today, and found out that Sjef (his prof) had surgery yesterday to relieve pressure on his brain and had another surgery today for his back. We're hoping to have more news tomorrow. I don't know the son at all, but I feel so terrible for him to have to handle all this. He's an only child, and I don't think they had many relatives in the states (they're originally from Belgium). FH is so bummed, too. I talked to FSIL this afternoon and she said the accident has been all over the news on LI.

It's things like this that make me realize what's really important. Does it really matter if the ribbons on my favors match the BM dresses exactly, or if we do a receiving line after the ceremony? Nope, all that really matters is the people in our lives who are there with us, in good times and in bad.
