Re: NWR: Saddam Hussein Hanged
I am not a fan of Sudam at all, but who the hell are we to kill him for what he did in his country. We needed someone to blame for 911, more soldiers have died in Iraq than people during 911 for what. I am sorry to vent, this aggravates me. Yes Sudam was a horrible man and did horrible things but thats not our country and why do we need to tell people how they should live and what is right.

i just wanted to say that the U.S. did NOT kill Saddam. he was in U.S. custody all thru his Iraqi trial, and the U.S. stated that once his final appeal was done (just happened), that within 24 hours of his appointed execution, he would be handed back to Iraq custody.
Earlier today, the U.S. did just that, and turned him over to Iraqi government, and they made the decision to execute him around 10 p.m. ET, because at dawn in the Middle East, begins a particular muslim holiday that lasts for a few weeks, and it would have been considered sacrilegous to execute him during that time.

I totally agree with you Irene. I couldn't have said it better myself. The only thing is that his country tried him for his crimes and they decided he should be hanged not america.

But do you really think we had nothing to do with it. Our influence did not sway there decision. Somehow, I think we are behind it more than we are getting credit for.

Good, the SOB should've been killed a long time ago. Let's just hope that they actually went through with it. I don't want to read/hear down the line that they let him escape or something like that.
I hope it doesn't take another 20 years to get bin laden.

The man was a horrible person....many innocent lives were taken at his direction. I don't think it matters who's decision it was to execute him. He got what he deserves.

From what I know about this situation, there was no U.S. representation in Saddam's trial. It was only the Iraqi judicial system that heard the evidence and testimony. It was only the Iraqi judicial system that levied the decision based upon the results of those factors. And it was only the Iraqi jucial system that carried out the captial punishment itself. If this were an American trial, we wouldn't have put him to death by hanging. Here, we have other means of carrying out capital punishment (lethal injection, and electric chair still in some states... not hanging).
No it's not our country. But it is one that was formerly under leadership that had a bigger stake in killing innocent people around the world (through financing and other indirect means), in particular Americans.......
I am happy this execution happened.....I am also happy for the Iraqi people, that they MAY now have a better life.....
This is definitely a powerful subject and everyone will have thier own opinions on it.......
