I am not a fan of Sudam at all, but who the hell are we to kill him for what he did in his country.
Ok i hate discussing politics because it always brings out the worst in everyone including me, but I just had to state my opinion...
So should we have let Hitler continue since it wasn't happening in our country either?...he murdered millions before he was stopped.
In our own country 16,137 murders occured in 2004, nothing to do with war, terrorism or Iraq...just to put things into perspective...i am not looking to fight or argue..i wish this world could be filled with decent, loving & compassionate people, but unfortnately there are some that are just pure evil out there...and there are extraordinary people who join our military and are willing to sacrifice the ultimate, for hopefully the better, and good for all.
I think that if the good people don't try and do something to prevent the bad from succeeding, than what is the point of being good? I know some will feel the same as me and some will want to rip me apart, but that is the best thing about our country...our right to speak what we beleive, especially as women, where some societies or governments would never even allow us a voice, or we would be murdered for expressing what we thought....so hopefully we can all agree how truly blessed we all are in a world filled with alot of crap and keep it at that

Took the words right out of my mouth...
Thank you!!!
And my GOD I just saw a segment on the news about him and what he did to so many innocent people. I mean, I knew a lot about the HORRORS he imposed on so many but I didn't know even 2% of all the terrible things he did... He raped and murdered women, killed innocent children, had hundreds gassed to death and then they were just lying dead in the streets, tortured so many and made SO many live in FEAR of being killed every single day of their lives... His sons, just as bad- if not worse, actually put the Captain of the Iraqi soccer team in JAIL for losing a game in the Olympics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean, things like that and SO much worse- it was actually sickening. All they kept showing were pictures of dead babies laying in the streets. I mean, I know it's their country and all but how selfish would it be for us to just sit at our dinner tables at night in our wonderful democracy and say 'oh wow, look at that six month old that is dead in the street-- anyway, pass the corn please'... That is insane- we HAVE to help these people. I know they are not Americans like us but they are still human beings!!! Here we are trying to raise money by purchasing red t-shirts at the Gap for innocent people suffering from Aids in Africa-- what if all of a sudden Bono and Oprah went 'ehh forget it, it's not our Country'... We need to do what we can to help like we helped those who were subjected to terror and death in the concentration camps.
God knows how many lives were lost in that war (civilians and soldiers) but those brave soldiers saved the world from dictatorship-- He needed to be stopped-- not only for what he did to so many innocent men, women and children but for what he could have done to the rest of Europe and the world if he stayed in power (and started to take over other places)... It would be naive of us to say 'oh no that could never happen' when it almost did with Hitler.
And furthermore, what Melissa touched on above is absolutely correct- The Iraqi government is the one who executed him.
All I can say at this point is God help him... b/c I think he is going to be spending a very, very long time rotting in Hell.
Thank God for Justice.

Frankly, I think he should've suffered in jail the rest of his life....instead we put him out of his misery and now what?? I would've like to have seen him go through hell & back while sitting in jail thinking of the horrible things he's done to others.
But that's just me......

Yeah
I go back and fourth with that. When it was Scott Peterson's turn to be sentenced I kept saying to myself 'which is worse: death or life in jail??' And some days I felt death was worse- other days I felt jail was worse... and I would go back and fourt over and over.
To this DAY I cannot make up my mind!
All I know is that sometimes I'm swayed by the fact that my Father was a Correctional Officer in the Nassau County Jail for 30 years- So I think about what he experienced (inmates watching HBO and working out all day long)... I think about that point of view and then I think 'is that really punishment??' I mean, I don't even have HBO! haha- and here they do and they get 'special meals'... All our tax money pays for it too So, that's definitely the downside to life in prison.
Who knows? I guess it all depends on the situation. But I can never make up my mind 100%!

Very true, I go back and forth too. In one sense he is no longer around to be able to frighten anyone he has had an impact on-BUT at the same time if his *** sat in a jail cell for the rest of his life with nothing better to do then relive what he did to all those people-I dont know, its tough.

Re: NWR: Saddam Hussein Hanged
I know!! It's such a hard decision.
I don't think I could ever, as a juror, make that decision!
But, being that Saddam has NO conscious, do you think he would really think about it and that it would be on his mind?
I don't think he really gave a crap (which is so sad).

He got off easy! Way to quick a death for the murderer and rapist that he was.

I wish they would have let us see him swinging. God forgive me, but he is going straight to hell.

Well I think of the minutes of true agony he suffered while being hanged- that's gotta be worse than spending years in jail, no? One would hope!
