Ok, FH has said he would like satellite radio for Xmas. I don't know what to do where to go, etc. Do i get XM or Sirius? Where do I go to buy it? How do I get a subscription for him? Please please help, I am sooo confused!!! Thanks ladies!

i am soo scared i will walk into best buy and get totally taken advantage of because of the extent of cluelessness i have I don't even know where to research this stuff. I can totally relate and even posted a similar concern on here a month or so ago. I wound up getting Sirius because FH wants to listen to Sterm and NFL, NBA, and college sports. Check out sirius.com. I got my FH the Sportster replay unit car kit since he only wants to listen to it in there and it can replay parts of games and stuff (god help me). In terms of the subscription, that totally overwhelmed me too. So I made him a 'gift card' good for a year subscription (basically when he calls to set it up I'll pay for the subscription). I know there was probably a better way to do it but I wasn't really sure how. Try to figure out what he wants to listen to on satellite and then determine if XM or Sirius is the better way to go. Each offers different programming (MLB on XM, NFL/NHL/NBA on Sirius, etc). If you have any questions, please let me know. I don't know a lot...but I can try to help!

I got FI Sirius b/c it will have Howard Stern starting 1/16....
I purchased the radio, home and car kit at Radio Shack for$129 and it has a $50 rebate offer....as far as the subscription, go to www.sirius.com and all the information is right there.
I did everything online.

It depends what you like, Since we like Howard Stern and Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Buffett, etc, we went with Sirius... I bought my FI the Sirius sportster for his bday last year and he loves it. We have the home one and the car kit. Best Buy is the best place to get it, they have good rebates and a lot of times they will install it for free if you buy it there

I would definitely go for the Sirius sportster packages if he likes sports and that's what you want it for. It has all football games, most baseball, and other ones also....

Ok Walt Whitman has it at one of theose electronic shops across the street from Bloomingdales in the Mall. I have Xm Satellite Radio which FH got for me which I have yet to use b/c i broke the damn battery. But if i remember the name of the store i will let you know. I hope this helps.

There are all these different Sirius stuff.. different 'radios' different packages. He isn't really into Opie or Stern or anything, just likes having sports and music. I guess just likes having a toy and I am all out of other ideas so I am glad that he suggested this but I am soo confused XMas is only like one week away!!
What kind of sports because XM is the official satellite carrier of all of the major league baseball games. My FI is a huge baseball and a huge Opie & Anthony fan so he got XM

I have XM which was great until about 3 months ago when they dropped many of the stations I listened too like MTV, VHI...... you really need to see what it is that he is going to want... also, be aware that i have issues with it going to work because it wont pick up the signal under bridges or in valleys so i keep going in and out
They dropped MTV and VH1? I didn't listen to them but wonder why that happened?

FH and I have XM cause it came with our cars.. Nothing too special. FH is mad because he says sirrius is better. So I say go for sirrius!!

I dont know why they did, but i was driving home one night and it just stopped playing and started saying that they were no longer going to be on xm

Ok, maybe I will do sirius. I just don't want him to BECOME a stern listener...I am not a big fan... I am not judging those of you who like him... a lot of my friends do... I am just not so in love with dirty stern But it sounds like sirius it is. I am so mad though cause he knows I am considering the present and he went and told his mom I was possibly getting it for him... which means she will in turn outdo me... as she always does!! AHHHH
