I am going to be taking 18 credits next fall semester. I am getting married Dec. 1st and people are telling me that I am nuts and i'm not going to be able to handle school and the planning 3 months before my wedding. I am not working at all during that time so I think that I can handle it. Were any of you girls still in school while your wedding was so close?

Re: NWR: School while planning the wedding
I am taking 15 credits this semester, plus an internship for 3 credits (so 18 total) and I am taking the bar exam at the end of July. My wedding is September 3. I think I am out of my mind too!

I did. I finished my Masters degree in 7 months (30 credits) I took 12 over the spring then the rest over the summer (18). If you think you can do it then why not?

If you arent working, then I think you will be fine.

Re: NWR: School while planning the wedding
Do what you think you can do. I worked PY and I was in grad school FT during the school year. Then I bought a house (closed) in May. Went to school PT all summer while working PT and set up for student teaching in Sept while my wedding was in Sept.
The first day of school (student teaching) was Sept 7 and my wedding was Sept 10. Now THATS crazy I made it with the help of my MOH.

I'm a lawyer, too, and my boss got married the week after the bar exam!
She passed and so will you.
ETA -- And the OP will do GREAT in school and have a fabulous wedding.
It's all about time management.

YEP! If you are not working I think it shoudl be fine.
I was in a doctoral program full time and wasn't working and it wasn't bad....I know lots of girls do it when going to school AND working, it's tough but just lots of lists and ask for help!

Re: NWR: School while planning the wedding
I'm taking 17 credits plus working an internship, plus I commute 4 hours every day to and from school. My wedding is in June and I've been planning my wedding while in school for over year. My grades havent suffered and neither has the wedding planning. You'll be FINE. Plenty of people work Full Time while planning a wedding -- thats just as hard as going to school while planning a wedding. Don't worrry about it. I get most of my wedding-related stuff done on breaks (winter break, spring break, easter break, summer, etc.) and on weekends that I dont have papers to write. Trust me when I say, its not difficult to balance both and you WILL find time for both.
HTH!

Re: NWR: School while planning the wedding
you know more than anyone else what you can handle. 18 credits, not working at all, and planning sounds very manageable! i finished off my BA with 18 credits in the spring while working 36 hours/week...i was not only planning for the wedding as well but getting ready for our move to NC and to start grad school right after the wedding! honestly, you do the least planning very close to the wedding. so you will have lots of little things to do (fittings, placecards, favors) that you can easily budget some time for. dont be afraid to ask for help from you BP when you need it! good luck!

Re: NWR: School while planning the wedding
I am also getting married this December and I am trying to take it easy....I'm in school getting my masters in education so if by some strange chance I land some type of job, I will not take a class, but if I do not find a job, I will probably just take 3 classes. I think that there are so many things that just 'pop' up and I don't want to be too stressed.

Re: NWR: School while planning the wedding
Yes, I was. I got engaged March 2005, and after May 2005 when the semester was over, I had had it with school [and I love school] and I just wanted to plan my wedding and not have to worry about extra stress related stuff. Additionally, if vendor apt had to comr up [even tho everything was booked within a few weeks of our engagement] I didn't want to have to miss school because of it, nor miss the vendor apt. What wound up happeneing is, I got soooo caught up with the wedding & such, after the summer and my wedding was over, this Sept I went back to school and had 19 more classes [GASP] to take to finish my B.F.A. I took 6 classes in the fall, which is 18 credits at my school. And starting a married life [NOT WORKING/getting unemployment] every day I felt like ripping my hair out of my head. I dunno, I say, if most of the planning is done, it SHOULD be ok, but 18 credits is alot ... I just scrwed myself ove cause I was out of school for awhile and I want to be finished by Dec 07, so even tho I don't want to, I'm forced to take 6 classes [18 credits] in this spring semester, about 3 in the summer and 4 in thefall of 07 then i think im done. Im in graphics and its not that much studying or hw hw, just computer projects and what not, and this is probably one of the worst semesters i EVER had grade-wise. with all the classes, the new thing w. married life, the cooking, the laundry, balancing everything out..its VERY hard. . . its so many challanges, but at times, i broke down and cried and DH kept pushing me to pull it together, i made it out, but was very dissapointed w/ my grades.and i feel like if i didnt take too many classes, the grades would be higher ....... its HARD though . . . . Im DREADING going back in a couple weeks, but i know i have to. and this is coming from a person who LOVED school!

Re: NWR: School while planning the wedding
I planned my wedding in 4 months, was a single parent working full time as a teacher finishing up my masters and writing my thesis!
You can do it. It majorly SUX, but its good to get it all done at once IMO
ETA: Do you need to take 18 credits? Can you maybe just do 12 or so?

Re: NWR: School while planning the wedding
If you arent working, you should be able to do it - I did it working full time, plus working 2 part time jobs, PLUS going to school 2 nights a week....

Re: NWR: School while planning the wedding
if you're worring about the schedule, hire a day-of coordinator, and make sure all the major decisions you have to make are done by the end of august......
I'm working full time, and am taking a grad class this semester.... I'm a little worried, but I promised myself that all major planning, and envelope stuffing would be completed by the end of january.....

Re: NWR: School while planning the wedding
i was in graduate school while planning our wedding.
i used the summer to do all the major things so i would only have to do small things leading up to the wedding and be less stressed.
