FBIL went skydiving in upstate NY last fall and loved it. After seeing the video and pictures its something I definitely *think* I want to do the problem is I'm not 100% sure. He and one of his cousins - also is one of my BMs - are going this Saturday before each of them leave the country (he is going to Egypt and Spain for work and she is going to China and Australia for school) and invited me to go.
Its 195 for the jump and 95 for a video & personal photographer to take pics on the way down. So basically, 300 bucks. Right now, FH is out of work and it feels a little bit unwise to spend 300 on something unnecessary right now. I told FBIL this and he offered to pay as an early birthday gift but that seems like ALOT for a birthday gift.
75% of my wants to go and thinks it would be an amazing experience. 25% thinks I will throw up on the way down.
Should i go???
ETA: the first word of the Second option is 'Go' it got cut off.

To be honest, its an amazing experience. I went when i was 21 in Las Vegas. If you go tandem (person strapped to you) then its awesome. You don't have to do anything except enjoy the ride. If they are doing static line, then you have to take an 8 hour course and you jump by yourself with no free fall (chute opens as soon as you jump) I recommend tandem! Does your fh ever want to do this? Maybe its something you guys can do together when you have more money. If you feel like this is your last opportunity to do it, then i say go for it!

i spoke to FBIL and told him to schedule a jump for us in july on my birthday! my best friend and her b/f want to go too so i think with her there i'll be more comfy and i'll use my rebate ck for it.
we are definitely going tandem. i want a trained professional with me at all times.
FH wants nothing to do with it... lmaoo. he's petrified of highs. he wont even do the dare devil dive at GA!! lmaoo i love him though.

Definitly GO! And except your FBIL generous gift. If he didnt want to spend that much money on you, he would have never offered. It is such a great experience!! And no one is 100% sure that they want to jump out of a perfectly safe plane for fun--thats normal. Go and enjoy it!

Re: NWR: skydiving
A Must Do!!! I did it 3 years ago at the Skydiving Ranch, in upstate NY. It was awesome, one of the most amazing feelings, I did it tandem (jumped w/ someone) and got the DVD.
FM me if you want more details...one word of advice those is try and hold your face taught, the force of the wind is so strong it blows your face like jelly!!!

that is where we are going. lol. in gardiner (sp?) or something.
two silly questions:
(1) i wear glasses, what do i do? contacts or just go blind? lol.
(2) if i close my eyes for the actual jumping out of the plane my instructor is still on the ball right? its not such a bad thing???
