Is 6 quarts enough? Is it too big? What are your experiences with them? TIA!!

Re: NWR- Slow cooker anyone?
I have this one:
I love it because (1) you can program it, and (2) the ceramic pot actually removes so you can use it for serving and then just put it in the dishwasher. Mine is 5 1/2 quart, so a 6 quart is plenty big.

Re: NWR- Slow cooker anyone?
I agree that the removable ceramic is a must! I also got one that turns to 'warm' when its' done cooking (some will turn off after the programmed 6 or 8 hours, others will turn to warm). Mine is 6 quarts but I sort of wish it was smaller because I have to make extra to fill the bottom, then I have tons of leftovers. But the smaller ones I couldn't find with the warm feature!
Don't they all have the removable ceramic pot? Otherwise how would you wash it? Unless, I'm not understanding something. I wouldn't mind having leftovers.

I have one similar to Lauren's....5 1/2 Qt. I LOVE it, programming and a warm selection is a must. I do wish it was slightly larger at times. I cook for just the two of us, so it works, but I do love having company over as well. You can't go wrong with a larger one. They say for the best cooking results, you should only fill your slow cooker half to three quarters - not all the way. HTH.
Thanks girls. I think I'm going to stick with the 6 quarts. We like having leftovers!

I actually have a 7 qt (and a 3 qt for if I need something little...) and it's not that bad...you can fill any size crockpot up to an inch before the top. it came with its own book of a few recipes, so I use the amounts in that to figure out how much I have to increase recipes that are for 5 or 6 qt ones. it works out, even though it's just us, we're really busy so I just freeze a lot of it for other times. crockpots are AWESOME!!

The one my mom has does NOT have a removable ceramic insert (Crockpot). You wash it very carefully, you can't submerge it and you obviously can't put it in the dishwasher, but you can wash it with soap and water int he sink without a problem. Guess who was always in charge of doing so?
This one was from about 10 years ago though, so I'm not sure if they still bother making them that way.

I just thought of an idea for a holiday gift for your Mom!

LOL, well, she used to use it a lot when we lived at home, but she's by herself now so there's not much demand for a slow cooker.

Re: NWR- Slow cooker anyone?
Here is mine. It's 6.5 qts and it's a touch screen. I just used it for the first time Sunday and it was the BEST EVER!!! LOVE it!! I'm thrilled I registered for it and even more thrilled someone bought it for me. It comes with a cookbook too with a ton of recipes. Can't wait to use it again.
I highly recommend it.
And it also has the removable pcs. I thought they all did. At least all the ones out now seem to.
