NWR- So Emotional.

NWR- So Emotional.

I know some people may not like this thread,,, but I am very emotional about the 9/11 events. Anytime there is something that triggers memories of 9/11 I get very sad and tear up already. But now with ceremonies begining and tommarow being the day,, I am just sad.

So I am off to work, I am sorry to post and run. But please keep all these people who passed and their loved ones in your prayers.

Re: NWR- So Emotional.

Awww sweetie it's okay. I'm a little emotional too. I almost lost my mother on that day. Gladly she was on the Jersey side by the time this started. My mother takes the PATH train every day from WTC to Jersey City and usually takes the PATH at around the time the first plane would have hit. And I remember waking up everyone in the house (my paternal grandmother was visiting from DR was supposed to fly out that day too from JFK) and no one was believing me until we all saw the 2nd plane hit on Fox 5.

What really hits me the most is the smoke from ground zero hitting my neighborhood in Brooklyn. I would never forget that... the smell, the sky being black, it was just horrible. I am glad in some way that I am off tomorrow from work. But most of all, I am glad that we are rebounding from what happened, even if it was 6 years ago.

Re: NWR- So Emotional.

i honestly shut down today and tomorrow emotionally. I refuse to turn anything on relating to the events because that is how I deal with things unfortunately. It is upsetting and it still triggers horrible memories of me leaving class early from being horribly sick (last year of college before i graduated with my assoc.) and hearing about the attack on the first tower then actually getting home to see the second tower get hit. Watching the whole event unfold while bodies went flying out of the building (yes i did see that) and knowing my father worked at DC37 building which is pretty much right there... I was horrified.

No one i know died or was injured - but that day i felt the world stop for me and I felt the grief of all the people who had witness or been apart of death and sorrow. That day is so far the most horrible day in my life.

Remember my father returning home from work after walking to brooklyn and he was in ruin. His suit was filled with soot and his face was of one I still to this day can't forget. He relived Vietnam like it was yesterday he said. And now I must shut my mouth on this subject since I am all ready getting emotional.

God bless those who died and god holds a special place for those who had to work that day in helping the people trapped.

I also shut down. Everyone handles things differently. All the sadness is soo overwhelming to me that I just become numb. I unfortunately knew two people (firemen) that died that day. it will be a rough couple of days for sure.

I also shut down.. before the attack happened I used to work down the street from where the WTC was and it hurts to even think about it.
Also I have a few family members that also worked in the area- it hurts to also think about them getting injured and hurt.

Everyone handles things differently and sometimes its better just to write a post like this to get it off of your chest. My dad is in the fdny and we were fortunate, but many of his friends weren't as lucky.
Tomorrow my dad is going to ride the train with me to work (I work in nyc and he is now retired - thank goodness) and go to the mass at St. Barts. Then he is joining the guys in his old firehouse at a bar to celebrate the lives of the ones lost. His house lost 10 men that day.
So hugs going your way

Re: NWR- So Emotional.

thanks for posting - i am having a tough day and I hope I can hide my emotions tomorrow. Next year I am going to take off - I am so nervous that I will not be able to keep it together.

I wish I could cut myself off but I can't I immerse myself in all the memorials and specials - that is how I mourn. . . I don't know if it is the right way ( if there is a right way ) but this is how I deal with it ( barely)

Many prayers and hugs to all of those mourning with me.

for both of you.
My cousin was there too and unfortunelty she was so emotionally effected that she is no longer the same person she was 6 yrs ago. Luckily she is getting better but is on a long road.

Re: NWR- So Emotional.

I think tomorrow is an emotional day for soo many, and my heart is with all those who lost friends and loved ones. I won't be attending my night class tomorrow because this professor insists on talking about it, and some people just don't understand the magnitude of the situation and I know I will just end up majorily upset. Days like these make me realize just how lucky I am, and how grateful I am for everyone, just make sure you all tell everyone you love them so, because no one ever knows what can happen.

I still cry every time I see things about it and I didn't loose anybody...but I thought I might have and I myself accidentally ended up in the city that day because I got on the wrong train into manhattan on my way to a job interview...I watched it all happen from my moms jobs window at 1 penn plaza. That was a very scary day waiting to hear from people. Even if you didn't lose anybody ...sometimes I think of those who lost husbands...and I can't control myself because I wouldn't know how to live without my FH.

My friend was a firefighter who worked on the cleanup / recovery effort for several weeks after and he won't even talk about it because it is too traumatic for him.

you're deff not alone...it's a very hard time for most of us.

I am the same way.
The flood of memories is overwhelming... that day was so intense.
I scheduled myself to work from open to close so that i miss most of the tv specials and radio broadcasts. otherwise i'd be at home hysterical all day.
