NWR: So guess what?

FH quit smoking yesterday!!!! He didn't smoke much Saturday as well!!!!
yesterday he was fine but, today he is miserable!!!
How can I deal with him?
Please give me some ideas, I dont know what it is like.

Have candy around. A lot of the time, its not the cigarettes that they need, its just the hand to mouth habit. Having the cig in your hand or in your mouth.

give him lollipops. That might help. my friends Dad quit that way.

i know this is going to sound weird but... sometimes it's not just about the nicotine, it's the 'hand to mouth' motion that is a bad habit also which is why a lollipop substitute often helps! my friend used nicorette gum and that helped her... when my FH was quitting I used to give him positive reinforcements and I would say something like, 'if you don't smoke for one week, i'll buy you a present!'

Ha! I didnt even realize we were thinking the same thing. the hand to mouth concept.

blow pops!! Thats how I did it....its not the same but it helped the fixation of smoking. Give him like two - three weeks for the 'attitude' to chill out....FH tried quitting for a week and he was the most miserable person on the face of the earth!!! He went back to smoking....
