It was probably the last big event you planned until now so lets share your Sweet 16 celebrations!
I shared this on the other post but I was very lucky...My b-day fell the week of Easter in 1997 so My mom and I went on a trip to Paris, Nice, Florence, and Rome with 2 classmates and my french teacher as a class trip. Then when we came back, I had a b-day dinner with some close friends at Neiderstein's Restaurant in Middle Village

this is a great idea. i had it in a fire house/hall and had about 100 people. the whole shabang. dj, baloons on the table and baloon arch, favors--polaroid pics of me and guest in a frame. my mom cooked everything and we had a sundae bar!! i danced with my boyfriend, my dad and did the whole candle lighting thing.
it was great. but now i look back and think-i wore a pink dress and had big hair--so 1990's!

We rented a church basement in Flushing - I believe my mom had it catered but the family all served themselves. We even had a DJ! I was in between high schools so I had lots of friends there....it was fun!

I had mine at a VFW post. Nothing crazy, Hero sandwich and DJ. I also did the candle lighting.

I got so jipped! We celebrate the quinceañero in my culture (turning 15) but we came here when I was 10, leaving most of my family (cousins, uncles, father since parents are divorced) behind and we weren't 'americanized' enough by the time the 'special' years rolled around so I didn't get a 15 celebration or a 16 celebration (my mom was like sweet 16? what's that?! ). So I got nothing...oh well!

I got a trip to Disney with my family and 4 of my closest friends. My dad took all of us to every theme park imaginable as well as the beach and dinners and stuff. It was a lot of fun and although a party would have been nice, the trip to Disney lasted 14 days and the memories will last a lifetime.

I was actually thinking about my sweet 16 while watching that show this morning. My parents rented a room in a hall and hired a dj. I had about 25 friends or so. Nothing big but still was a lot of fun. I remember I invited the guy I had a crush on, he came but never danced with me.

It was in my backyard. I had about 50 family/friends and we had twister, 2 pinatas, volleyball and lots of food.
Not as fancy as most of my friends - but we had a ton of fun

Wow lets just say I hope that isn't really a trial for the wedding!!1 It was a disaster! Half of the people I invited didn't come because of some other party (not as important as a sweet 16) Some didn't even call and say no so my candle thing was all messed up. It snowed and one of the mom's got stuck in the road gully so her daughter didn't stay! And I cried in the ladies room. 'Its my party and I'll cry if I want to'!!! but I did love my dress!!

Mine was nice and easy back in 1991.
It was in my backyard. My bday is at the end of May....so the pool was open and we has a V-ball net was set up. About 70 people maybe showed up. Fun was had by all.

I didnt have one, and didnt want one. I don't like all that attention. Go figure for someone who loves to perform. Its different though. I just dont like people doting on me. Except for FH he can.

I never had one. I don't feel like I missed anything. I hope my future kids don't want one. It seems like such a waste of money.

I was the last of my friends to turn 16 so we were all tired of the crazy, wedding hall parties. I had my party in Sept (bday in Nov.) while it was still warm. We had it in the backyard. We got a Dj, rented a dance floor tables and chairs, got it catered, and had a great time... My parents backyard is something out of the pages of better home and garderns, pond and waterfall and all. ETA: My family all left early due to having little kids and my candle thing was also screwed up!

I had mine at the fire hall with the works as well. DJ, Balloons, centerpieces and favors.
It was a lot of fun and the pics aren't that bad for 1998.
I didn't do the candle lighting ceremony because I didn't want to offend anyone!!
ohh...memories!!!

i didn't have a sweet 16 party... my parents said i could have either the party or the baby grand piano that i had been wanting forever, so i chose the piano! it sits in my mom's living room now, but can't wait until i have my own home that's big enough to hold it i'll never forget how happy i was to get that piano!!

We rented an 18-20 person limo, went to eat at a restaurant in NYC and saw and off broadway show...it was the best, I didn't want a typical sweet sixteen, and I wouldn't have changed a thing...
