I have a really bad case of sun poisoning. Has anyone ever had this and what remedies did you do to relieve the pain.
It is so bad that I cannot even lift my arms above my head. My skin feels so tight like it is ripping apart at the seams.
Sorry for the graphic description. Someone please help.
Thanks,
Jess

Try taking some tylenol and using the blue aloe vera...it will cool your skin.

Re: NWR Sun Poisoning
I had it last year...uhh...I don't know if this helps but here goes -
For burning, (this is stinky but REALLY HELPS) mix 1/3 white distilled vinegar to 2/3 H2O. Soak a wash cloth & ring it out. Then lay the wash cloth on the burning areas. My dermatologist was the one who told me about this. The vinegar draws the heat out of the burn...but it makes you smell like a salad.
For the tightness of the skin I've hear that pure aloe (from the supermarket or flower store) works & creams with no perfumes or colors. I used Solarcane cream once & it was awesome. It was hard to find though but there are a TON of products in the sunscreen section. Just beware of the content. You want NO Alcohol & make sure if it says Aloe that it isn't 10% Aloe & who knows what else...
Unfortunatly these only mask some of the problms & you do have to wait it out. Don't forget to gently wash your face if it's burnt & use a good toner. Your skin is going to compensate for the burn with excess oils & that can cause a breakout.

Re: NWR Sun Poisoning
Try an aloe product that has lidocaine (sp) in it.... it's a topical analagesic (pain reliever) it will take out some of the sting... for added cooling benefits, keep the stuff in the fridge until ready for use.

Take a bath and put in it a powder that says skin reliever or something. Chill your pure aloe in the fridge before you put it on. Solarcaine is also great. Drink TONS of water because you will be very dehydrated! Feel better! I know how awful sun poisoning feels!

Thanks for all the advice. I am going to have my mom go and get me the solarcane stuff.
I can't believe I did this to myself. Well at least the wedding is 5 1/2 months away.

The vinegar definitely works! I am an expert at getting sun poisoning, so take it from me! I hope you are feeling better soon!

Re: NWR Sun Poisoning
I get burned A LOT and both my doctor and pharmacist said that the Banana Boat aloe (the yellow cream one, not the green gel), is the best soother and moisturizer you'd get at a regular store. As for homemade remedies, I know someone who swears my oatmeal (cooked and then cold I guess so its mushy???)

I got it all the time when I was little. I used to take baths in the Aveno stuff- the same stuff you use for chicken pox, and that helped a lot.
Im sorry- I remember how painful it was!

GOTO THE DOCTOR!!
I got sun poisioning so bad they had to give me shots and put me on steriods; he also gave me some zinc cream that made me look like a beached whale, but it did stop the burning!

Ugh! I'm so sorry. I had a horrible case of sun poisoning when I was 13--eyes swollen shut and the whole thing. For the pain, the BEST thing you can get is called SOLARCAINE. Most pharmacies like Walgreens will carry it. It comes in a spray can and it is so fabulous. I used it a few years ago when I managed to get an awful sunburn at a tanning salon. Hope this helps!
