What do you think would be a good gift to give as a 'thank-you' to my supervisor for student teaching? I finish this week and wanted to give her something.Thanks in advance!

it depends on her interests...my supervising teacher loved fine wine and cooking- i got her a nice bottle of wine, a new cookbook, and also a book on teaching- she really liked doing journals w/ the kids, so i got her a book on journals/writing conferences, etc.

something that relates to your experience in his/her room would make a big difference and show that you appreciated the experience... for example, a girl student teaching under my co-teacher (i'm special ed. he's general ed.) got a great gift. the general ed. teacher does a lot of story telling with myths. she got him a beautiful mythology book filled with stories. he loved it and it showed appreciation while giving something he can use with the kids as well as showing him she remembered his teaching style and interests.

I gave my cooperating teacher an iTunes card and a giftcard to Starbucks. I think both were $15 each. So try to figure out what her interests are- a gift card is always nice!
Wow I was almost done with student teaching this time last year!!! And now I've been teaching 8 months! Time flies!

I was in Panera today and saw that they have gift cards too..that place is great!! That or a Dunkin Donuts gift card would go a long way with me!!

My student teacher gave me a $50 gift certificate to steve madden and a basket of bath stuff...it was really nice and generous of her...

For my last cooperating teacher I made her a small basket with candles, note pads, and a gift card to Applebees (she had mentioned she liked to go there).

thanks everyone!! those are all great ideas!! now that I think of of there are lots of little things I've noticed that she would really appreciate since I've been there -- maybe I'll but together a gift bag. or do a gift certificate.
also I brought in a game to do speech sessions with some of the kids and they are always begging to play it when it's their turn for speech. that would be fun to give too -- since when I am finished I am taking the game with me. she'll get a good laugh out of it.
