Do you know of any districts where you can sub without certification? One of my cousins is going back for her MS in Education in the fall and wants to substitute simultaneously.

Re: NWR: teachers
Not sure where she is looking to sub but here is the link to the requirements page for new york state. http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/substituteteaching.htm
I believe she must have fingerprinting done and possibly a child abuse seminar done but that may have changed. It changes all the time. Hope it helps.
Edit* Here is the NYC link. http://schools.nyc.gov/Offices/DHR/SubTeachers.htm

I believe East Meadow, and the pay check shows it... at least the people were nice when I subbed there a few years ago

When I subbed for the city years ago you didnt need certification...just a four year degree. I don't know if you're only asking about Long Island though.

I work in Farmingdale. You can sub with just a bachelors. It pays $125 per day.

Private schools! I taught at Lawrence Woodmere Academy for one year without certification! That experience counted towards my student teaching for my certs!
