I know there are many teachers on this board so I was hoping someone can help me out. I've been looking for a teaching position all summer (I currently work as a substitute and need something full time and permanent). I was wondering if anyone knew of any openings for Social Studies teachers (I'm certified 5-12).
I'm getting anxious since school start this week, I've sent you letters and resumes, applied online to private, public, Catholic, and NYC schools and nothing!!
Thanks girls!

Re: NWR: Teachers help please!
I really wish I could help you, but I'm at the elementary level. I know the exact situation you are in. I was a sub for 2 years and then I finally got a job - in the Bronx. yea, it wasn't the best situation driving from LI to the Bronx everyday. I just got a job on LI on Friday. So it's still possible that you could get a call. One of my friends actually got hired the 2nd day of school a few years ago.
good luck! I know it's not easy.

Re: NWR: Teachers help please!
Did you send resumes directly to schools that you want to work at in NYC? If not, that is the best way to go. I am a 7th grade SS teacher and thats what I had to do.
I work for NYC Schools and that is the easiest way to do it to try to get into schools.

Re: NWR: Teachers help please!
Last year I sent out my resume to NYC schools in general and I went on a general intereview at the main head quarters in the bronx. And I got nothing...heard nothing. I then sent resumes to all of the district 75 schools (im special ed) and I actually got a few interviews that way. The principals from those schools called me directly. I was even offered a job but had already accepted somewhere else. Good Luck!!

Thanks for the help!
I think I'll send my resume to the NYC schools directly- I dont know why I didnt think of doing it. Now, I'm afraid it might be too late since school starts this week.
As for OLAS, every time I apply for something through there i NEVER hear back from any of the schools..weird.

Re: NWR: Teachers help please!
You should look at the DOE website that posts the available jobs on there...and I would go directly to some of the schools with openings and drop off your resume...
