NWR: The after Xmas credit card bill blues

Being the baby of the family, I am already an Aunt of 6 (not including any of my cousins or friends children that I always buy a little something for also.) As much as I love my nieces and nephews, I was so happy when my oldest sister got her tubes tied. The holidays have been getting way too expensive and I was trying to keep the costs low this year for obviously reasons. LOL

As I sat at Christmas Eve dinner, with 10 kinds of different seafood in front of me and being so happy that all my shopping and wrapping was done and the kids LOVED all their presents, my brother announced his wife is preggers AGAIN.

SERIOUSLY?!?!? Next year, I am going away from 12/23 - 1/2!!!!

I laugh, but I am serious. I want to go away for Christmas and just ignore everyone til January and just pretend that Christmas didn't happen, because I have a tan.

i only have 3 (2 nieces & 1 nephew) & i feel the pressure. stuff for kids (clothes or toys) are so expensive. to avoid some of the end of year credit card blues, i started early this year. i had the kids completed by October. i mail ordered things on clearance & for clothes just ordered a size bigger. i also refuse to buy them toys. they either end up broken or my SIL throws them in the garbage after a couple of months so its not worth it. they only get things they need or things that they absolutely love. (for instance my 2 nieces love dress up so they get dress up clothes & accessories) & my nephew desperately needed a new pair of sneakers so that's what he got.

for their birthdays, they get US Government Savings Bonds. its costs me $50 & when they are older it will be worth $100. & they also get a day out. pizza & manicures for the girls. & for my nephew we take him to the movies & bowling.

yes, they love opening gifts but in the end its the time u spend with them that they remember more.

One of my sisters gave birth to beautiful twin girls on my birthday. Da*n birthday stealers!!! They are only 6 now but once they are of age, I will just bring them out drinking with me and call it a b-day present. They can go out with their 44 year old Aunt and be embarrassed.

The worst part of it all is that 1 of my sistrers is a Doctor and doesn't worry about her crapy credit card bills and my other sister married someone VERY well off and she hasn't worked in about 13 years. She is the BAWLS to say to me I need to start in September and go shopping when the sales are with coupons. If I have to explain to her one more time, that I work more than full time and I can't sift through the paper for coupons and take off from work to catch a sale, I will just scream!!!!!

I told her if she is that concerned, she can shop for her own children and let me buy them from her. She tells me she likes to be surprised on Christmas Seriously????

Next year everyone is getting a .99 cent roll of wrapping paper and an empty box with wishes in it. LOL That will surprise everyone.

OMG i can't believe she had the nerve to say that to you!! It's not like you HAVE to buy her children presents, you're doing it bc you want to!!!!! Get them some really cheap gifts next year and see how surprised she is then!

When she said it, I know she meant it to be helpful, but I don't live the life she does and I just don't have time to walk around Kohl's waiting for a sale. Next year, everyone is getting anything left over from the wedding. A favor, napkin, a centerpiece or a pack of matches!! Don't care if they are 2 years old or 8.

Ok good. Maybe we should get a coffee can with a picture of a sad goldfish on it or something.
