comes outside to smoke his cigarettes and my kitchen window is right there and MY house ends up smelling like smoke!!! He doesnt wanna stink up his house but he's stinking up mine. I HATE cigarettes and cigarette smell. Should I tell him something? Do I have the right to say something to him even though he's outside?? I dont think its fair to me and I definitely should not have to keep my window closed!

you can't really say anything to him. i suggest you close your window, my neighbor does the same thing and i can't take the smell of cigarettes.

I have a problem with the idea of having to close my window when Ive lived here for 3 1/2 years before him. Maybe Im a baby but there is a whole courtyard. He knows theres a window there. Fh already slammed the window on him once.

the same thing happened to me., I told him that my apt smells like smoke then he went on the fire escape and then i complained so much he got evicted lol

i would say something to him...just say sorry but do you mind going a little further to smoke, all the smoke comes into my apartment when you smoke by my window.
I smoke but i would never do it by somebodies window, that is rude

If he doesnt get the hint after you ask him nicely maybe go by his window and light up a cigar or something else smelly... lol... No but seriously maybe is just that naive that he has no idea what hes doing I would try asking him nicely, and if he doesnt stop say something to the landlord.

UGH that is SO FH!!! he is so oblivious. . .he smokes in my backyard and then gets all suprised that my parents know he smokes!!
I think you should definitely say something to him . . . just dont make it a big deal - say that you are very sensitive to smoke and it comes into your apartment . . . be nice make it part of a conversation instead of some accusation
and then come over and tell my FH the same thing

Guys are oblivious sometimes... FH and I smoke and I have to remind him to walk away from the front of my house almost daily when the windows are open. Next time he does it go out there and ask him to please not stand near the window...
If he still does it play obnoxious music out the window... like Barry Manilow (sorry if there are any Fannilows out there). They did that somewhere to keep kids from hanging out in a park after dark, lol. If that still doesn't work, turn the hose on him.

Not that I like to lie...but in this situation, you could tell him that the cigarette smoke right outside your window really bothers your asthma. It's really rude for him to do that in the first place...so making it a health issue will hopefully leave him with no questions asked.
I hate that people aren't considerate when smoking! Just today I went out to lunch with one of my bridesmaids and her friend and the friend is totally smoking in the car with the window just cracked. I am really sensitive to it but I don't even know her so I wasn't about to ***** to her.
Ok, I feel better now...that had been bugging me all day!

i'd def. ask him to move. I smoke but i try to respect people around me who don't and i wouldn't stand right by someones open window!! I say you ask him to just move .. and if he doesn't tell him you have a breathing condition that the smoke irritates and if he still doesn't move.. throw the water on him..lmao!! GL
