Hey girls!! This sunday FH and I are going into the city to see How the Grinch Stole Christmas and we would really like to spend the whole day in the city (the show starts at 5)...What are some cute things that we can do? Normally we walk around Times Square and go into places like Hersheys and Toys R Us, but Im not really wanting to do that again. I was thinking central park, but isnt that a long walk from penn station? Also if you know of any reasonably priced restuarants around the theatre district that would be great!! Any ideas or places you girls have are greatly apprciated!! TIA

Becco is amazing near the theater district. It's lidia of lida's kitchen's restaurant. they have a 20 dollar price fixed meal for theater! Also, there is Maria Pia which has a price fixed meal also. Central park is far away from Penn Station.

If you like Italian Carmines is right around there. It is Family Style, but if it's just the two of you you can just share a dish. Ummmmmm Central Park is a far walk from Penn. You can always take the Subway to the Museum of Natural History which is right by the park and do both... Too bad the tree isn't up yet. Why don't you go to the East Village and Union Square (Havana de Cuba is near Union Square, I love there food!) Personally I like the West Village better, I might be biased cause I used to live there but you can walk up Bleaker and go to all the cute shops. They have great restaurants there too! Well hope that helps a little but. Have fun!!!

Go to the museum of Natural History. Just take the 1 train (from right in PENN) and stay on it until the 86th st. stop and it brings you out right infront of it. Just go earlier in the day! Alice's teacup is also super cute on the UWS. Look at the details on citysearch. not sure if your FH will like it, but my FH loves it (even though it is kind of girly) but he is pretty tolerant of that kind of stuff. But truly at alice's teacup the food and tea are really out of this world. could be fun

The #1 train will leave them on Broadway, a few avenues from Central Park West which is where the Museum of Natural History is. They can take the local trains (B or C) to 81st and that will leave them right in front of the museum. HTH!

Orrrr what about a carriage ride at central park!! If your wedding's really the date posted you might still have money to play with
(The horses hang out at 59th and 5th, by the old Plaza Hotel), you could ride through the park and get dropped off on CPWest then hit the museum, I love that place! From there its a short subway ride back to Penn Station, or if its not too cold one of those pedicab guys will bring you back to Penn
