FH and I have been thinking about getting TiVO or a DVR (this way I can watch my wedding porn like Say Yes to the Dress and Platinum Weddings on my own time! )
For those of you that have one, I'm curious -- do you recommend TiVo or just a DVR????

Re: NWR -- TiVo or DVR?
if you go with tivo that means you will have direct tv. for dvr you can use time warner cable or dish satellite, or others that i just am not familiar with. so the real question is which cable/satellite provider do you want to go with. both tivo and dvr serve the same purpose. good luck :)

You don't have to have direct TV but it is cheaper to purchase a TIVO with direct TV. I personally love my TIVO over my DVR. I have both. My TIVO is old so I can't use it with my new HD TV but it works great on my old 32' in the bedroom.
If you want to spend the money, then TIVO is def better. I find so many limitations with the DVR

IDK I cant afford either! we have like 99 movie channels @ 50 + extra dollars a month and we never watch any of them...I would love dvr or tivo but my cable bill is already too high!

Re: NWR -- TiVo or DVR?
I've had Tivo for about 5 years and I looooove it.
When I moved in with FH we got a DVR and it's good too, but I just like the extra features on Tivo. I'm not sure how much of a difference in price the two are since I've had my Tivo contract for a while, but if it's not a big difference I'd go with Tivo.
