FH really has been nagging me forever to get my belly button pierced. I am TERRIFIED!!! Is it really painful- should I go for it?

If you don;t want to do it- don;t do it.. I had been dying to get my nose pierced for years-- I finally did it when I was 23-- I took it out when I was 27.. I miss it sometimes, but I think I need to be more of a grown up now.. (i'm 29).

If YOU want it get it-- but, if you want to please FH- it'll only hurt for a few mins..

Go to Andromeda on St. Marks-- they did my nose!!

don;t be chicken- go for it- you are only young once-- I was happy I did my piercing, but it's better to be gone now.. People already think I am much younger than I am.. good, but bad too.

I doubt it will be that painful- I did not do belly button - but, it can;t be worse than anything else.

Only get it done if you want it.

I have had my for five years now. It was not painfull at all. And I don't even know its there anymore.

When I first got it done it was a lot of maintenance. It was a while ago, but I remember having to wash with antibacterial soap several times a day and after everytime I exercised. (But I never got an infection)

I am just a wimp- I have a very low tolerance for pain and an even lower tolerance for sharp objects piercing through my flesh . . . how do I get the NERVE!!!!!????

I hate shots. I got a tattoo adn my upper private part (ok my boob private) pierced. I will not lie it hurt but honestly not really bad. My tattoo hurt more but that didnt even hurt.

The person that did mine was very good. They pinched the area with something like plyers (sp?). (that didn't feel like anything more that if you used your our fingers to pinch the area) And the needle was through in a matter of seconds. I barely had time to even think about being in pain.

It doesn't hurt, actually. I like it only sometimes. Sometimes I think it looks silly, but its pretty cool in the summertime!

i am one for piercings not tattoos (even know FH has many) but the belly button did not hurt a bit!!!! GO FOR IT!

if you'd like a big nasty scar above your belly button for the rest of your life, i suggest getting it.

i would do it as a surprise but remember it takes a while to heal. if i were you i would go to venus modern body arts in the east village and make an appt with maria i beleive she takes appts on fridays she is amazing and the owner and has done all of my piercings and there super clean there and she makes all types of platinum jewerly

Unfortunately I got mine done at a bad place (I think they're shut down now) and mine hurt like hell. I don't think the guy even had the appropriate tools. He was kind of winging it. I was determined to get it done though at the time and didn't look into the place at all. I've never ever heard anybody else say it was painful, so as long as you go to a well-known place, you should be fine.

I am soooooo chicken too. my FH watned me to get one when we were on vacation last year, becuase he was getting a tattoo. I refused, said i was scared. He started filling out the forms for me and next thing I knew I was getting it pierced. It really wasnt too bad, I cryed more when i got my ears peirced lol.

That depends on where you get it - that certainly does not always happen.

I was scared to death to get mine and it really wasn't bad at all. The thing that actually hurt the most was that he put the tape over it while I was still half lying down so my skin wasn't taut. When I stood up, the tape pulled on the skin...now that hurt!! But I got it more than 7 years ago (Freshman year of college, of course ) and it's fine. If you really want it, do it!

No it is not painful and NO it does not leave a nasty scar!
BUT you do have to take good care of it and MAKE SURE
that you wear clothing that will NOT irritate it while it is healing!

I took mine out a year ago (cause i thought my stomach was too big to have one)
and there is NO NASTY SCAR. Just a little dot that nobody would see
if i didn't point it out
