FH really has been nagging me forever to get my belly button pierced. I am TERRIFIED!!! Is it really painful- should I go for it?

I agree on the nasty scar part! I took mine out when I got pregnant and it looks nasty!! and all my friends who have 'grown out of them' and took them out have the same ugly scar

That is another thing I am concerned with- the healing. I do not have wash board abs . . . I have a teeny pooch, so I am afraid that when I sit my belly will roll over a little and it will make it get infected or just be painful . . .

I got my belly button pierced almost 10 years ago!!! I can't believe its been that long. I say go for it. It doesn't really hurt that bad, and as long as you keep it clean it won't get infected. I love mine and will only take it out when I get pregnant.

If I decide to go, should I go with someone or go alone? I think I might be more of a chicken if someone is with me . . .

I had mine done 6 years ago. It didnt hurt and it is quick. I went with someone to hold my hand. I took mine out 2 years ago - and there is no scar just a little dot. You wouldnt be able to see it if I didnt show you.

it doesn't really hurt that much when you get it done.. but it took about a year for mine to heal. That was the painful part, always rubbing up on jeans, and shirts.. im so glad it is all healed up now, i don't even know it is there.

I had mine done 5 years ago. I always wanted one, but am terrified of needles. I went with some co-workers and they got theirs done. I reaaly really wanted one, so I said ok. But when I got in the chair I couldn't do it. The guy had to calm me down for an hour. He said let's just practice before we really do it. Well he didn't practice, he really did it. And I thought it would be much worse than it was. I'm so happy I did it then and I still have it now. I don't even know it's there. If you take care of it the first few weeks you should be fine. Go for it!

I got my belly button pierced 7 years ago. It does not hurt at all. It just looks scary when they put the clamp on. It is over in a minute. Go for it, if YOU want it!

You won't be a chicken! I think most people go with someone else when they have that done. I know I went with my friend when she had it done - and she said she barely felt it.
Best of luck with whatever you decide :)

I've had mine pierced since I was seventeen. It doesn't hurt. I forget I even have it now. You should do it if you really want it.

I was scared to have mine done, too....but I finally did it when I was 23- and it really didn't hurt at all. Just a little tug, and there was no blood. Good luck with your decision!!

Re: NWR: To pierce or not ot pierce . . .UPDATE: I DID IT!!!!!!!!!
I am not going to say that it didn't hurt, but it was really subtle pain- very tolerable!!!!! I would do it again. I can't wait until I can change the ring to something a little bit longer, since I have a deep belly button. It feels so much better when I spray it with Bactine (that's what they told me to do along with washing it with anti-bacterial soap.)
I am so happy I did it!!!! (So is Brian )
Thanks girls for all of your encouragement and support.
Geez I am such a chicken

I did not get a scar when I took it out when I got pregnant. I mean it is a tiny slit less than a quarter of an inch above my belly button. it does not even bother me.
