NWR: Town of Oyster Bay Beaches

I recently moved to Plainview in the town of Oyster Bay.
Can you guys tell me where the local beaches are and which ones are nice?

Thanks

I live in Babylon, but the only Town of Oyster Bay beaches that I know are either Jones or Tobay. (I am 99% sure Jones Beach is in the Town of Oyster Bay) Jones is probably more public and crowded than Tobay, but I've never actually been to either of them. Both are on Ocean Parkway. Good Luck. Don't go in this heat! :)

thanks. I am thinking of going Saturday.
I have always gone to Jones from Queens.
I was hoping to learn about the ones that you need to be a resident of the town to go to or whatever.

Tobay Beach (short for Town of Osyter BAY) is the town beach. it is residents only on weekends, and not so cheap for non-residents during the week.

I grew up in the town of oyster bay, and spent tons and tons of time at tobay. it is the best. not nearly as crowded as jones beach and alot nicer.

jones beach is a state park, so it is open to everyone......

How do you get there?

I am lucky I know how to get to my house..

it's just east of jones beach

you can take the wantagh pkwy all the way to the end, go three-quarters of the way around the water-tower circle, and head east on ocean parkway. the parking is on the bay side, so you will see a sign for the turn-around for tobay. just take the turn around and the beach parking lot is on the right.

Jones beach is the town of hempstead or north hempstead. but you can still go there and pay 7bucks.

You can also try Teddy Roosevelt or Bayville. I believe both are Town of Oyster Bay- I have bought the pass (sticker) before and used it at Tobay and Oyster Bay definitely...not sure about Bayville. Oyster Bay though, is a bay..no wave and you have to watch for high tide....however, it's quiet and small if you need a couple of hours of down time.

I have friends who live in Massapequa so I got to go with them to TOBAY. I think it's $25 if you dont have a sticker on your car, but the sticker is only $35 for the summer so it's worth it if you think you'll go a lot.

It's a cute beach, on the ocean and they have a concession stand with yummy foods like chicken sandwiches, turkey wraps..... I'm making myself hungry!

Have fun!

be careful with the bayville beaches. They are 95% private and you must be a resident to go to one of them!!

Here's a link to their beaches:

ETA: TOBAY is nice (especially since it's an ocean beach). For sound beaches, I like the Centre Island ones (it's really in Bayville but, on the way to Centre Island).

Centre Island, Teddy Roosevelt?

Looking back on my response from yesterday, I can't believe I thought Jones Beach was a Town of Oyster Bay Beach. Duh, it is a state park. What was I thinking? It must be the heat. It is affecting my brain cells.
