NWR-Train seat hoggers

NWR-Train seat hoggers

Why do people feel the need to get on the train while I'm sleeping, sit next to me and then try to take up more room than their seat. I almost elbowed the guy next to me bc he kept coming over to my seat.

If this is on the LIRR, I totally feel your pain. Also, I love it when people give you dirty looks when you ask to sit down and they have to move their bags off the seat next to them.

I take the subway a lot more than the LIRR, and I HATE when people put their bags on the seats when there aren't many free seats. I always ask them to move their bags, and usually they do. But sometimes they won't, and I loudly exclaim 'DID YOUR BAGS SWIPE THEIR METROCARD WHEN THEY ENTERED THE TRAIN STATION?!?'
So irritating. One lady STILL wouldn't move her bags off the seat, and I could see in the bags - there were a couple of small plants in them. I told her I hoped her plants died.
I know, I'm mean. Don't eff with a girl who's spent half her life on the subway, though!

Yes, the wonderful LIRR. I totally agree, I always put my bag on the floor because there isn't ever enough room for everyone. There is this one guy who has a Louis Voitton bag who refuses to put his bag on the floor or in the bag holder and I want to smack him.

The other day a guy and a woman got into a fight about that. She started insulting him he starts insulting her. I'm trying not too laugh bc it was hilarious and he asked the same question. 'Did your bag pay for a seat, bc I know I did'

Or how about people that give you dirty looks, just when they have to move.

The bags to annoy me too. Sometimes I ask just because I think they're being presumptious in putting their bags there. That's what the overheads are for!

That's what the guy did to me today. I was asleep next to the window and this guy decides to sit next to me with his legs spread. I was too tired to argue but I was squished. I was not happy.

lol - I could go on FOREVER about this topic.

What about the guys who read the New York Times, and open the paper up all the way so the paper is half in front of your seat? That so p*sses me off....

ugh, i hate the LIRR. Although it is highly entertaining at times.

Last summer some lady went shopping and took up the 3-seater w/all her bags. Some people asked her to move it and she said no. Then the conductor told her to move it and she said ok. He left and she never did it. He came back and said, 'i'm going to stand here until you move it.'

I enjoy beng entertained on the LIRR.

I also hate when people expect you to give up your seat to them just because you are younger than they are. Most times I give my seat to elderly people and or pregnant women but there are those days when I just dont feel that well. Can I be sick or tired?.....I hate when people around me give me a dirty look when they can just easily give up their seat as well. Just because Im not elderly or pregnant doesn't mean that something else cant be wrong with me.

THIS REALLY irritates me - the constant turning of the pages = constant elbow in my side and then in front of my face as they hold up the paper. Give me a break! If they were sitting next to a man my age, they would fold that s*** up but since I'm a woman and 'smaller' I am lucky enough to have your leg pressing up against me and your hand in my face. Thanks.

I work in the Airport so I have to take the Airtrain and I hate when people block the door way with there 50 huge bags and when your trying to get off the train the doors keep closing on you!

Re: NWR-Train seat hoggers

LOL Ladies I feel ALL of your pain....I HATED commuting LIRR & Subway. I would ALWAYS get stuck next to the weirdos!!!

On my morning commute many yrs ago out of Cold Spring Harbor, my 'LIRR car mates' would place bets as to whether or not I would spill my coffee b/c every morning I would buy the HUGE coffee and fall asleep as soon as the train would leave the station. Some mornings I could get into PENN w/out a drop spilt and other mornings I would have coffee all over my jacket (I know, you would think I would learn) Oh and the best part, none of them told me this until I announced it was my last morning commute!!!!

The one thing that TOTALLY upset me on the LIRR is more than once, myself & I have seen other women do it, have given up their seats to OBVIOUSLY preggo woman so they didnt have to stand while the men would 'hide' behind their newspapers!!!! :

Amen!! I ride the subway everyday from Brooklyn and depending on the time, it can be total madness because people are pushing to get on and don't let anyone off! Then when people try to sit down by squeezing into a space that obviously won't fit them. Not to mention the nail clipping, nose picking and coughing! GROSS!
I will give up my seat to pregnant ladies, older people and people with kids but there are days when it annoys me that there are so many men that don't do it at all!!
