NWR: URGH!!! WHAT THE HECK is WRONG WITH PEOPLE!

I just got into a fight with my neighbor!! URGH!!!

We have a gate in our backyard that goes through the neighbor's yard... since we moved in i've noticed the kids from the other house come into my yard without permission to get a ball... i have asked them nicely to please not do that... (we have a pool and rocks and other dangerouse things back there and I dont want to get sued if they get hurt) and i have also noticed dog poop in my backyard... and no we dont have a dog!

So im in my back office room and i see these kids in my yard again... so i go out there and they go running... so i go into their yard to remind them that i have asked them to not go into my yard and to come to my door if they lose a ball...

so the father is there and starts screaming at me that he told them it was ok and what else are they supposed to do and that he dosnt want his kids to have to walk in the road to get to my door to get their ball back! ... I DONT CARE IF IT IS OK WITH HIM!! IT is MY yard and I SAID NO!!! URGH! I told him that I was going to have to nail the gate shut then and he said fine go ahead... Im just so aggravated how nasty he was!! am i being totally unreasonable???

wow! he sounds like a A$$! You are totally 100% right by not wanting those kids in your yard!You should def put a lock on the gate so the kids can't get in!

He sounds like a total jerk who is raising his kids to be the same way. Nail that gate shut tight, girlie!!

I don't think you're unreasonable at all. Considering the fact you have a pool, if one of the kids fell in I'm sure they would hold you and your husband responsible, right? As I see it, you're not only looking out for your property but their kids as well...which is more than one can say for him. I love it when parents set crappy examples for theirs kids. Then you wonder why some kids turn out the way they do. It's your yard, your property and they're trespassing. Period!

when i told him that we have a pool he said, well we have one too and my kids know how to behave around them!! URGH!

he is one of those parents that are probably like... not my kids... they do nothing wrong!

Tell him about the little boy in Hicksville who died this week because he wandered into his neighbor's pool!!! Doesn't he watch News 12???

You're watching out for his kids, too, not just for your own insurance policy...

plus im tired of the dog poop in my yard!! I told him that he can think im wierd if he wants because im a big worrier! Im a teacher... i watch kids get hurt all the time by just being themselves!!!

I DO NOT like children NEAR my property. I have high fences, higher bushes... WHY? because that same Dad would SUE YOUR A$$ off if his kid got hurt on your property! You TOTALLY did the right thing.

Definitely lock the fence.

when i was a kid we used to hop the neighbors fence to get our ball (the people behind us) but they were old and didnt have a pool and would rather us get it ourselves...

however if you told them not to do it then they shouldnt, and their father sounds like an a$$ - if one of his kids fell in your backyard he probably would sue.

brilliant!!! and if that still doesn't work add some decorative barbed wire maybe the father will have to get off of his butt and go to your front door to ask for the ball back so he won't have to worry about his children going in the road. seriously, how can he be SO CONCERNED over them going in the street but not going into a stranger's yard without supervision, a dangerous pool and rocks??? Am I missing something here?

WOW A PAIN THE THE ARS NEIGHBOR BY FAR. CAN YOU SLIDE SOMETING IN BETWEEN YOUR GATE SO IT LOCKS AND DOES NOT OPEN WHAT ANNOYING PEOPLE AND ITS FOR HIS KIDS SAFTELY

Isn't it unbelievable that people think nothing of going on other people's property?

Maybe you can tell him you can use his yard too then? If it's not a problem to use your yard it should not be a problem to use his.

Nail the gate and tell him that he and his kids would be trepassing private property.

Not at all....especiallywhen you have a pool in your back yard. God forbid something happens someone like him is the one who will sue you. Nail the gate shut and if they kick the ball over your fence again deflate it and send it back over. LOLOLOLOLOL.......

Side note - my one neighbor got so sick of a ball going into ther backyard she popped it with a knife and then threw it back over
