AZO is over the counter. Just be careful. If you start to get chills and fever you HAVE To go to the doctor. It could spread into a nasty kidney infection that could require hospitalization.

Take AZO Cranberry pills, eat lots of yogurt, drink a lot of cranberry juice and give it a few days-- if it does not get any better i would just pay out of pocket and go to a walk-in clinic for some meds to get rid of it. They can be a real pain in the arse! Feel better
ETA: and yes, taking the over the counter stuff can cause yeast infections so i recommend taking the AZO yeast infection pills also-- and if you eat the yogurt that will help guard against getting that! yikes!

Please,..... Do not wait to go to the Doctor. I tried the same thing I waited and hoped that it would go away...Well It didn't and I got a Kidney Infections from not taking care of my Urinary Track Infection...I Had to go to the emergency room....and The only reason they didn't admit me was because there really wasn't any rooms for me to stay in. I don't think I have ever been sicker
I will never wait again.

you really should go to the Dr. I can't imagine a doctor not giving antibiotics for a UTI, what if it spread to your kidneys? that dr. could be sued for malpractice!
ETA: also, how do you know its definitely a UTI unless you go to a doctor and get a urine culture?

I get them all the time and I get no symptoms so by the time I realize I have one I am severe pain and usually sick to my stomach (sorry) on more then one occasion I caught it to late and it had spread to my kidneys. Go to the DR and get antibiotics. Water and cranberry juice are a must and NO Nookie.......
Hope you feel better
I second this ... two weeks ago I was sick to my stomach and ended up in the hospital the next day with a kidney infection - and it's severly painful. I know UTIs are common, but they really should be taken more seriously. I'd at least call the doctor for guidance. I now have to go for follow ups with the urologist to make sure I didn't do any permanent damage to my kidneys. Not fun!

You could try calling your Dr's office about your insurance. You may be in the system already even tho you haven't received your insurance card
Fell better!!

Cranberry Juice is good, but it can take longer to clear the infection without antibiotics. Get well...

go to your local drug store and get AZO....they are basically cranberry pills with a mild over the counter antibiotic. They are fab and come highly recommended!
These are miricale pills, they work within a half hour. Although they turn your pee flourescent orange...I really mean flourescent!
I agree with the other ladies...DOCTOR...for the antibiotics...cranberry, yogurt and that stuff will help, but it can get worse, and you could be hospitalized. I am the queen of UTI's...they are not fun...sorry you have one
