Drink a TON of water....and cranberry juice BLEH!! I hate cranberry juice. CVS carries an over the counter remedy thing but it makes you pee a BRIGHT BRIGHT orange.....and is not that effective. Good Luck!

according to my urologist, cranberry pills and juice promote good uninary tract health to prevent infections but won't make one go away... I used to get a least one a month. Antibotics are the only way to get rid of it for sure

go to your local drug store and get AZO....they are basically cranberry pills with a mild over the counter antibiotic. They are fab and come highly recommended!

CVS has these new chewy cranberry pills. I saw them there the other day on the counter

go to the doctor- bc cranberrrry juice just makes the pain go away. Until you go you can take lots and lots of vitamin C- or if you happen to have the antibiotic 'cipro' you can take that as well,

its best to go to the Doctor though, so he can keep track of it for you

You can buy something called Uristat at the drugstore. It turns your pee a dark color, but stops the symptoms. Cranberry juice is good too and remember to drink lots of water.

I have had so many UTI's!!! It must be genetic, my sis gets them too- you really should go to the doctor, because even though Uristat or AZO will work (they always do for me), it might only be a temporary fix for you and it won't kill the bacteria that actually started the infection....drink tons of water & cranberry juice until you can get to the doctor- and don't wear pants that are too tight until you feel better.

Good luck!!

I used to get them the worst. I would actually go to the hospital they were so bad.

When I feel them coming on I actually put a little alka seltzer in a glass and drink it and it takes the symptoms away right away.

Also drink alot of cranberry juice and go to the doctor they can give you a prescription.

This is what my doctor told me as well. The only way to get rid of it is to take antibiotics. Everything else just helps with the symptoms and the cranberry thing is more of a preventative measure.

It's really important to go to the doctor because if untreated it could turn into a kidney infection...

That said, there are test strips you can buy at CVS to see if it really is a UTI...I think they're in the same aisle as tampons, etc...Sometimes it can feel like one is coming on but it's just an irritation that will go away with a lot of fluids, etc. The only way to know for sure is to test for bacteria in your urine.

Lots of water and cranberry juice.
They also sell URISTAT over the counter.
But you might need a prescription antibiotic like Bactrim from your doc.

I would go to the dr. and get anitbiotics, I wouldn't want to deal with a UTI any longer than I had to. I had one a couple of months ago and the Dr. also gave me something for the pain.

I'd go to the dr. anyway....I tried the cranberry juice method and it didn't help any. It's just best to see a doctor...my mom, the nurse, told me that if it wasn't gone in 24 hours, to see a dr. b/c it can spread to your kidneys.

I get them all the time and I get no symptoms so by the time I realize I have one I am severe pain and usually sick to my stomach (sorry) on more then one occasion I caught it to late and it had spread to my kidneys. Go to the DR and get antibiotics. Water and cranberry juice are a must and NO Nookie.......

Hope you feel better
