NWR: USAirways - stolen credit card vent

Last week I had a ton of pending charges on my debt/credit card. I called Bank of America to find out what they were but because they were pending.... they said they couldn't give me any information until they post to the account. So they are all finally posting to my account and it turns out someone stole my CC# and bought like 6 tickets on USAirways... flying first class. My checking account has been debited like $3,000 and now I have to keep calling Bank of America to add all these new ones to the charge back.

They canceled my credit card but, since all these charges were authorized last week... they keep showing up... everyday there are more and more which means I have to call the bank everytime a new one shows up. I am so mad... I don't even know how they got my CC# I don't use this bankcard for anything. I never use it online... this is just strange.

I called USAirways but they wouldnt tell me the name of the person that bought the tickets. They were only 'allowed' to tell me that the tickets are for today, they are leaving from Cali and stopping at all these other states.... they wont refund me. They just said they would forward all the information I gave them to their fraud dept.

I hope they arrest whoever did this

I hope BofA is crediting you in full...

Once BofA has to credit you, they will launch their own investigation.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this, it really stinks - it happened to me too.

they are crediting me in full as the charges show up... but everytime a new one shows up I have to call and let them know (which means 45 mins on hold waiting to be transferred to the fraud dept.) just frustrating

If they haven't left yet, isn't there anything USAirways can do???? That's absurd. When they go to check in, stop them, no?

I dont understand how the airline made the mistake by letting this person buy tickets. Dont they have to show ID and the credit card?? I dont get it. You should tell them youre gonna sue.

I asked them what they plan to do about it and all they said was the fraud dept will be notified and thats all the info they can give me. The least they could have done is told me what they plan to do about it. I don't know if they just cancel the tickets or maybe stop the people at the gate. I feel like I have a right to know what they are going to do to the person that stole my credit card number.

Yup and you should be able to press charges. Tell the you want to press charges against this person and youre getting a lawyer

I agree with you here. They can't tell you the name, but, give you some peace of mind by telling you what they're going to do!!!

that suckss ... from what i hear if anybody has a bank of america call they should check thier account ... apprently a lot of people debit card infnormation was stolen and money is beig withdrwn from thier account ... 2 people at my office have gotten a totall of $3000 taken from them ...

omg that totally sux- so sorry to hear that! you should notify the credit bureaus also- just in case- it will stop this person from opening anything in your name in case they have more info than you know about yet.

ETA- also file a police report

i am so sorry this happened to you....i recently had someone teal my BOA check card, although it was only one purchase they made, my money was credited and just recently it was determined that the charge fraudulent so BOA closed to case and is letting me keep my credit...the most important this to do is file a police report because this is the only way to prove that you didnt make the charges. i would also sign up for credit card monitoring for a little while to make sure no one opens anything in your name, i signed up for the one through BOA.
