NWR - vacationing to Cancun, Mexico??

Hey ladies! My fiancé and I want to vacation somewhere inexpensive this year since we're planning for a wedding next summer. I really wanted to go to Puerto Rico however FH wants to go to Cancun, Mexico. Cancun looks gorgeous but I can't help but think about all the 'violence' you hear about Mexico lately. Has anyone traveled to Cancun lately? Where did you stay? Any input on Cancun you have, please share. Thanks girls :)

I went to Cancun in 2010. It was amazing there! I'm dying to go back. We felt perfectly safe there. We even went to the local Walmart since my FH's luggage was delayed. Also, I would definitely recommend taking the ferry to visit Isla Mujeres, it was beautiful there and souvenirs were very cheap.

I went to mexico twice. Once in 2007 and again in 2010. I loved it both times. We stayed in a hotel in Riveria Maya which is a little outside of cancun. We stayed at the Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda. It was a lot of fun and the hotel was beautiful. We even left the hotel and I never felt unsafe.

We went to Cancun for our honeymoon. We had a great time and felt safe the whole time. we traveled using their public transportation and it was very safe. We went to the club one night and was out till 2am and took the bus back to the resort. You don't have to worry you'll be fine.

We went to Cancun in May of 2012 and it was gorgeous! We felt completely safe there, and would definitely go back. There are lots of things to do and see in the hotel zone, and there were always people walking around. We stayed at the Royal in Cancun where every room has an ocean view. The pool was AMAZING... like never want to get out of the pool ever ever ever kind of amazing. The beach was very nice, but we never went in the water. There's this fabulous room that the hotel keeps open 24 hours a day that has tvs and pool tables, all different kinds of sodas and liquors (that you can help yourself to), some light snacks, and most importantly: bottles of water! It was so nice to be able to grab some bottles of water after spending all day in the pool and then head up to the room.

If you have any questions about the royal let me know! Also, if you do go to cancun we used USA Transfers for the shuttle to and from the airport and they were fantastic, I highly recommend them.

we are going to cancun in Sept! it's off season but it's my birthday month. we are staying at le blanc which looks amazing I can't wait. it was also much cheaper off season. only bad thing is it might rain but I heard it's like Florida and the rain is an hour at the most per day if even.

I haven't been to Cancun since 2001, but a good friend went to Riviera Maya last year for his honeymoon and said he and his wife felt safe leaving the resort and had a great time.
