NWR - Vent - So annoyed!!

Just got a call from my aunt (not real aunt - mom's best friend) she apparently planned a surprise 40th anniversary party for my parents - ordered invited and all and is now telling me when it is!!

she did not consult me or my sister and it turns out that i have a wedding that sunday afternoon!
its one of my friends from work and she came to my wedding

i am so annoyed that my 'aunt' would do this without consulting the children of the couple whose anniversary it is!!!

am i wrong??

ok vent over - ugh so annoyed!!!!

I can't believe she didn't ask you anything! It's a nice gesture to throw your parents a party, but she definitely needed to speak with you first. You are not wrong or overreacting at all - I agree with you 100%!

aww so sorry that is happening to you. IMO you should have been brought 'into the light' of her plans on the situation as a whole. sometimes people trying to do something nice lose sight of the bigger picture. hope it all works out for you

i have a pet peeve when people plan surprises for people who dont like surprises. . .i never understood that!

i dont understand it either matilde
anyone who knows my mother, knows she hates surprises
and i felt like by calling me, she was inviting me to my own mother's party!!!

annoyed? i'd be pissed.

that is very rude. she should have consulted you and your sister before setting a date for this party. Of all people their children should be at their anniversary party

that's kind of stupid on her part. no offense, but before she even started THINKING of planning it she should have contacted you and your sister. how could she not?

she was probably so excited and got caught up in the moment of wanting to do it all herself...but think about it...would you EVER do something like that w/o consulting the family of your friend about it? i don't mean to sound totally mean but it's kind of stupid not to. and a little rude too.

sorry...i hope there's some way you can do both that weekend!!

you aren't wrong at all she really should have spoke to you both because now look at the outcome you have a wedding that day- aww I really hope you can work something out
