nwr: weekend vent

I cant stand dh's family! at first i thought it was only his parents but now i see they are all selfish people.

We are going to visit DHs grandparents and aunt & uncle this weekend. it is a 4 hour drive; we are leaving tomorrow morning and coming back sunday morning (have to be somewhere sunday evening so we arent staying late).
When DH told his aunt we were coming, she said 'ok great; what will you be making for dinner'?!?!
DH was speechless and his aunt said his grandparents love seafood so it would be great if we could bring up 12 lobster tails and 5 dozen oysters to make! It is costing $250 for this!!! His aunt says she will pay - she better or i will flip!

So now we have to go to the fish market in the morning (they open at 11) get a cooler, pack it up so it can last in a car for 4 hours and then head up there. basically we will end up getting there around 4pm...sitting for an hour, then we have to cook dinner, clean up dinner, then we will have another hour to sit with them before they go to bed...and that will be our time with them!

it so frustrating how inconsiderate these people are!


anyway, just needed to let it out since tomorrow i have to be nice and sweet

if i was you, i wouldn't bring anything at all, sorry, this is just how i am because you don't invite me over and then ask me to make you something for dinner. sorry, this is not how i was raised and i would put up with it.
IF, when i got there they still asked me what was for dinner, i would play it off like hahaha! i thought you were kidding! we couldn't wait for the seafood shop to open since we wouldn't have gotten here so much later! like they don't sell lobster tails at most local supermarkets? c'mon!

ITA...WHAT?!!! completely jaw dropping. That is the rudest thing I've ever heard. I'd cancel. Seriously.

and lobster tails of all things to request? She'd better pay up or leave with the good china!

they dont have lobsters and oysters where she lives??

Sorry but i wouldnt wait around until 11 for some stupid seafood shop tp open when you have a 4 HOUR DRIVE!

have FH tell them to bite it and hit the road at 6am or whatever early time you planned.
