NWR-Weight Watchers

NWR-Weight Watchers

So I'm looking to lose about 15lbs by next June. I've done Nutrisystem and lost 12lbs last year but I'm not crazy about the food.

Those who have done WW, in a nutshell how does it work & how expensive is it.....ballpark?

Thanks!

Re: NWR-Weight Watchers

FH and I started WW back in March/April and have lost about 15 lbs so far and FH almost 30. I have not been able to stick with any other diet before and this one has been great for me.
I had done WW free 7 day trial online and read and learned all about the diet, and bought the points book. Then after that I just followed it on my own. Its a little difficult the first 2 weeks just getting the hang of the points and keeping tabs. But once you figure it out, its easy.

I recommend giving it a try. Good Luck!

I love WW. I lost 10lbs in one month a few years back, but i counted my points and exercised like a nut job!
I'm going to go back on it soon.

Its really simple and you can pretty much eat whatever you want, in moderation. It also teaches you the proper foods to eat!

Can you guys FM me a ballpark price? I paid a little over $200 with Nutrisystem but I definitely hear WW food is a lot better.

Re: NWR-Weight Watchers

I pay $17 a month for the online program which include all the plan info, the tracker and 1000's of recipes. I LOVE WW. I've lost 40 lbs. I like it because you have the freedom to eat what you want, you just have to budget it.

Under the new plan, everyone gets 29 'points' per day and every food is assigned a points value. All fresh fruits and most vegetables are zero points, so you can fill up on them. Foods that are higher in protein or fiber are going to be lower points, but foods that are high in carbs and fat are more points, so you can eat less of them. You just have to budget. For example, I know I have a work meeting tonight and will be eating pizza, so I'm going to plan my breakfast and lunch to be smaller to accomodate that.

You also get 'bonus' points which you can use for treats or if you have a wedding or something to go to, so it's not too restrictive. I find I lose more weight when I don't use them. You can also earn points by exercising.

I think it's a great plan. I have a lot of weight watchers cookbooks and I cook a lot, and I've learned to cook so many things. Last week for me and my DH I made

A spicy pizza with roasted tomato sauce, broccoli and sun dried tomatos

A white bean and spinach lasagna

My favorite - spinach and cheese quiche

Caribbean Mahi Mahi

And the dessert recipes are also really good.

I love to cook WW food. If you don't like toi cook you can eat microwave meals or just find out the points of what you already eat, but people LOVE the WW food I cook. You really never know it's diet food. SOOOOO yummy

I have to pay for the first 3 months up front correct?

Re: NWR-Weight Watchers

There are 4 different payment options:

1- Monthly pass - $39.95 per month. This is the cheapest option and gives you meetings AND e-tools.

2- 17-week pass - $194. 17 weeks worth of meetings, no e-tools.

3- $13 weekly - pay $13 each week when you go to meetings, no e-tools

4- WW Online - $17.95 per month - online only, no meetings

I find that EVERYONE loves the WW food FH and I make. If I dont say anything, most people never realize its 'diet food' or low fat.

I'm not 100% sure. I got a deal by paying 3 mos up front, plus I got back $10 from ebates. You can also check with your job or health insurance plan. SOmetimes they have deals like that.

I also do the monthly pass $39.95 a month. I having been doing pretty well. I'm 7 lbs down. Tomorrow I will weigh in for my 4th week. I prefer to get weighed in person and do the meetings because it gives me more discipline. Eventually I will probably swtich to online though. If you have an iphone weight watchers has an amazing app! Its tracks everything for you, looks food up, and you have a whole profile for yourself. Its really cool. Good luck

LOVE the iPhone app. I can track everything on the go. You can also add recipes to your shopping list and then you have a list to buy and check off all the ingredients when you're at the grocery store. LOVE it

THIS!!!

I did WW a few years ago and lost almost 20 lbs in 3 months. WW is the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me! LOVE it.

Good Luck!

Re: NWR-Weight Watchers

Lat time I was there the meetings were 12$ a week, and you are buying your own food as you normally would so its not expensive. I lost 20 pounds on it about 4 years ago, I highly recommend going to the meetings, for me I know I needed the weekly support and accountability. I think WW is the best 'diet' because it teaches you how to eat more healthfully and its not all about selling you pre-packaged junk food.

Re: NWR-Weight Watchers

Thanks guy. Each of you has motivated me to just do it. I don't have Iphone :(

I'm so worried that I'll lose the weight now and gain it back. Maybe I'm better off waiting until my wedding date gets closer? My goal is to lose 15lbs, if I lost 20lbs I'd be in my glory!!

I lost 12lbs on Nutrisystem but have gained back 5 of those pounds with in the past year.

WW is the only program I have lost weight and kept the weight off. I think bc its really a life style change rather than a diet. If you stick with it you will lose the weight and keep it off. I lost over 40 lbs on it and have kept it off for over a year. For the last year i've been struggling to lose the last 10, but I haven't been as strict with myself, even though I really should be. Re: NWR-Weight Watchers

I am a huge fan of WW... started in Feb last year and lost almost 50 lbs... went from a size 12 to a size 4 and I am continuing to lose.

I never really struggled with my weight until these past few years as we all know it piles on lol. I did Nutrisystem a long time ago and I lost about 20 lbs but it was such a waste of money because as soon as I stopped it all came bck.

WW is great because it's not a diet, it's a complete lifestyle change that is actually doable. You learn how you need to eat to meet all of your nutritional needs and how to be satisfied and actually lose weight.

I have a monthly pass and it's 40 dollars a month. I go to meetings every week no matter what, and I find this really helps. I am so close to my goal weight and I can't wait until I can finally start to maintain. I know it sounds like I work for them but I just love them!

Re: NWR-Weight Watchers

I agree with the other ladies- WW is definitely great!!

I also recently started using My Fitness Pal (.com). It's basically the same concept, minus the meetings and food having a point system- but it's FREE!

You can do it from your PC or your phone, and I lost 17 lbs doing it in about 2 months! Granted, I fell off the wagon a bit, but I will definitely be going back to it soon.

HTH!
