Currently I am taking Ortotrycyclin Lo. I have been doing further research and heard all these terrible things like weight gain/ I am not sure if I should stop taking it all together and continue alternative formd of BC. What kind do you take? Has anyone had a bad experience with Ortho tri lo?

I've taken ortho-tri-cyclen lo for at least 3 years now and haven't had any problems. I feel like I did gain about 40 lbs when I started it, but now that I'm really trying to watch what I eat, I've been able to loose the first 10lbs since Jan with no problem. I do notice that the day or two i 'forgot' to take it I wasn't as hungry all day.
As for getting your period on your wedding day... I didn't calculate that into our planning so I actually tried that thing where you 'skip' your period by not taking the placebos and starting the new pack instead. I don't recommend doing it often, but I had no major problems for that one week.
Just remember everyone is different so what happens with one person may not be what happens with you.

Lo-ovral...I am considering going off of it two months before the wedding. Do you think that's a bad idea? My gyno said that I shouldn't have any symptoms, like weight gain or acne since I have a very low dose...but i'm still not sure...

Coming off of the Birth Control made me a little moody... don't add to the stress before your wedding! Wait until after wards to come off of your birth control...

Lo Estrin 24 -- I haven't gotten my period in 3 years...I love it... Since I switched to the 24, I don't get the bad mood swings from PMS either.
I've was on Lo Estrin for about 5 years but was still very moody each month when I went on the placebos so they switched me to the 24, now I'm only off the pills for 4 days..such a difference.

I've been on Lo-Estrin 24 for about 9 months now. So far I'm pretty happy with it. I've changed pills more then anyone I know, I think I've tried almost everything out there. Everyone's bodies react differently to the hormones so I wouldn’t base what’s good for someone else for what might be right for you. Talk to you Doctor, be honest and share concerns, ect. Also, it can take 2-3 months for the pills to really show their true colors (ie side effects might ware off). I was veryyyyy nauseas the first 2 months on my new meds but I saw it through and I think they've been the best for me so far.
