My FH is a mechanical engineering major and he has to list a 100 'bugs'. They have to be mechanical like the sound of a blow dryer or the beeping of an alrm clock. Any ideas??? TIA

The beeping of a car or truck when they're backing up.
Fingernails on a blackboard. Gets me every time! Does that count?
Oh, and even though this isn't mechanical, and I'm a Yankees fan, I CAN'T STAND hearing John Sterling yell, 'The Yankees win.... ttttthhhhhhhhheeeeeeee Yankeeeeeees win!' Drives me so damn nuts and my dad and FH both turn up the volume to grin at my reaction.

The sound of vacuum cleaner attachments (especially when it's plastic on hard surfaces).
Most alarm clocks when they're on the 'beep' setting. There's something about the tone of them that just drives me nuts.
FH really hates it when his computer hums.

the seatbelt reminder in the car the beeping sound my printer makes when it's having yet another fit the knocking of the water pipes/heat in the wall whirring of any kind of air filter or dehumidifier or air conditioner that drowns out everything else

the sounds verizon phones make when the battery is low nextel phones that have missed calls (My dad has both...I can't go into his office at night without criniging......)
