Re: nwr: What do you usually wear for an interview?
Are you talking about a job interview? For a job interview you should wear a dark (black or navy) suit, preferably with a skirt, and a light-colored shirt, no matter what the weather is.

I always wear the same thing...either
A black skirt suit and white shirt, stud earrings, minimal make-up and my hair in a bun
A grey and blue pinstripe pant suit with a white shirt, minimal make-up and my hair in a bun
Long hair should *always* be worn up since it seems more 'professional'...silly, but corporate attire is strict.
Good luck chica!

I agree with the suit for a job interview, unless the interviewer specifically told you something different. I was told that even if the company does not require suits on a regular basis, it's always better to be overdressed for an interview than underdressed.

I haven't interviewed in a very long time (thank God! )
but I have always worn a skirt suit.
Don't wear too much jewelry... simple studs or pearls and tasteful makeup.

Re: nwr: What do you usually wear for an interview?
For my last interview (which I got the job) I wore a black below the knee length skirt and a fitted button down blouse. It was in the summer, and I wasn't about to put on a suit, and I got the job!! I think as long as you look professional you'll be fine.

Honestly I would say a dark suit, black or navy, navy is really the power color, I am a recruiting manager and that is one of the first things we look at. Better to wear the suit than be underdressed and its worse if you aren't wearing a suit and the interviewer is.
Good luck!!!

i'm a teacher. i have a beautiful powder blue suit (skirt not pants) that i wore to interviews. i usually got called back.
i think it made me stand out because EVERYONE else always wore black or navy. for the job i have now, i was the ONLY PERSON who got a job from the 8 others i interviewed with!!

You are supposed to wear a suit, but in 2005 you dont HAVE to wear a skirt suit, even though some think you SHOULD (like my mom). But for schools, its much more traditional so it cant hurt.
If you get a 3 button blazer, this is the order you button the buttons:
Top= sometimes Middle=always Bottom=Never
Just a tip!!!

Re: nwr: What do you usually wear for an interview?
I was always told to wear a suit. My manager always looks for that... he really won't hire you unless you have a suit on the interview.. but everyone is different. Generally the darker colors are better but i've also worn light grey & that worked well. You are always safer with a suit, i always wear pants suits though. Suits make you feel more professional so you will come off that way in the interview & look more confident. & like many others said, minimal makeup, jewelry & perfume. Good luck! I'm getting bored with my job so I may have to break out the suits for some interviews soon!
