NWR: What OTC allergy medicine do you take??

I've been taking Claritin for a few years and I feel like I may have a tolerance to it. I've tried Allgra in the past, it also worked for a while than stopped.

Since I'm getting to the end of my Claritin I was thinking of trying Zrytec...anyone have any experiences with this?

Zantac (spelling)...it comes in a green bottle. However, all allergy meds make a me a walking zombie. I need double doses of coffee to keep me awake...

Zyrtex is amazing. Best OTC allergy medicene I've ever tried. You dont even feel like you've taken anything. It can be kinda $$$$ but walmart has a store-brand verison.

A close second would allevert. I've taken that for awhile, and it works great too.

i switch off between 3 a week: Claritan, Advil Cold & Sinus and Sudafed D. i have nt gotten used to any of them so they all seem to work (espec. the Advil and Sudafed).

you can take the little red pill Sudfed everyday too and that'lll work and it's non drowsy. Also, Alavert stopped workng after a while for me.

I got to try Zyrtec when it was prescription and it did nothing for me so i can imagine OTC wouldn't be any better. Allegra and most def. Allegra D worked but they're prescription

I took Zyrtec-D and I swear, I felt like I had done speed.
Not that I know what that feels like or anything, LOL....
My heart was racing like a mofo and my palms got all clammy. Reminded me of my trance party days of the late '90's. Not fun when you're sitting at your desk conducting interviews!!!

I stick to Benadryl and deal with the drowsiness.

me too! I used to take claritin when it was by Rx only- once it went over the counter it like STOPPED working for me. I've tried a bunch of other Rx's and nothing worked- now I use sudafed- the RED box... I LOVE them.. they clear me up so fast!

oh and if you have a super stuffy nose (that's the worst) I use zicam nasal spray- the green one (with aloe)... it doesn't drip down your throat, its like a gel.
I SWEAR by it!

I take zytrec...I have a tolerence to both claritin and allegra now too. Zytrec seems to be working. I take 12 hour and take benedryl at night cuz it puts me to bed.

I did't have the side effects mentioned above. only the dry throat that I get from all allergy meds.

have you ever tried going for weekly allergy shots rather than loading up on allergy meds

I've been thinking of doing this...the only sucky thing is that it could take 6 months-1year before it is effective.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies!!

I take Zyrtec-D twice a day. It's the only thing that helps me. It says it can make you drowsy but it doesn't have that effect on me at all. If you can get a prescription from your doctor Allegra-D is very good too.
