They are small barware glasses for cordials and after dinner drinks. Some come with stems other's are stemless... I'll try and find a pic of some for you

exactly, we'll go to dinner and get coffee and ask to have a shot of sambuca or amaretto (sooo good) and the glass they usually put the liquor in is the cordial glass

unnecessary. JMO!!!!! We don't drink cordials! If you drink cordials then they'd be a definite necessity. Or if you plan on hosting a gathering where cordials will be served. I'm just very uncordial in general.
