nwr: whats your take on having...

a MALE OB/GYN attending to you?

i don't have one yet and have been calling around but what i noticed is that all of the female ob/gyn are booked or have appointments available in late June! one of the receptionist told me there's an available, sooner appointment but it is a MALE doctor.

i asked FI about it and he really doesn't like the idea. i for one, am not sure what to feel about it.

I dont mine at all. He's a professional. My gyno is a male and it doesnt bother me. I feel more comfortable with him than my woman gyno.

i first went to a man (who actually delievered me)
than switched bc i wanted to see a woman.
when i found out i was preg i joined a new group with 4 woman and one man.
my main dr went on bed rest and I ended up with a man dr doing my delivery. lol

i'm fine with either and have used both. the only issue with having a man is that a female nurse/NP must be in the room and i actually find that awkward. at least the doctor is busying himself down there but the nurse is just chilling.

I prefer men...and have to say that in my experience they are much more 'delicate' than a woman.

***Wow...just realized how wrong that sounds! What I have experienced is that he female Dr's are a bit more rough and far less understanding....hope that sounds a bit better

I went to a female a few times and disliked her--I've always had better experiences with male OBGYNs. If a doctor is professional, there is no difference.

I like my male ob/gyn. He asks me a weird question before he takes a look at my who ha and then I think about it and tell him
... exam done!

It's awesome.

i dont like it. only women for me. i think i went to a man once. I just dont feel comfortable and you need to be comfortable with that type of dr!

it' all a personal preference though.

My male gyno is awesome. I have been to a woman before and I atcually thought the male dr. was much nicer.

i could care less.

and just ... for any of you girls planning to have a baby in a hospital one day... you might as well **** it up now.

cuz chances are you'll be in the hospital in some sort of labor for a good chunk of a day and will probably be seen by several doctors.

not to mention that a lot of practices, when you're pregnant, will have you be seen by every doctor BECAUSE they know you could be delivered by ANY of them depending on when you go into labor.

it's just a hoo-hah. they've seen a million of them.
its not sexual.

i dont care at all. i've had both. and haven't noticed a difference as far as empathy.

there are some women who prefer men only. as a gynecologic practitioner myself, i've seen my share of female ob/gyns who absolutely ****, who i would never let anyone i love go to. and male too, but the females come to mind more easily!

to each their own!
