just curious about what every one does for the holidays with fh or dh. we both have big Italian families, and we both want to see everyone but it's hard to do both families homes for one day!

NWR- Where do u go for the holidays?
We are lucky and our families live 5 minutes away from each other so we do both for each holiday. Sometimes it works out to dinner at one and dessert at the other but other times its 2 dinners in a row. If they weren't so close I think we would alternate for thanksgiving and other holidays but not Christmas.

When we were dating, we would do Thanksgiving at one and Christmas at the other or try to do both in one day. Then his dad moved to NJ, and that became impossible! Now that we have a house, this is our second year having everyone to our home. I LOVE that! My house is small and I love when it's filled with all of the people I love, it's just my favorite. And Thanksgiving is my FAV holiday, I'm SO EXCITED for tomorrow!

My FH and I have a VERY well mapped out schedule. We both come from divorced families and the FH's dad is remarried.Our families are in 3 different states. We normally have to make it a few days of holidays so that we can accommodate EVERYONE that we need to.

that's so strange to me, not strange like that but something I'm not used to. growing up my grandmother on my father's side would never allow that.... so my mom's patents were never invited and we never had holidays together. that's partly bc my mother is Ecuadorian so when we r with her fam we don't eat Italian or American we eat Spanish food. and my dad fam is very Italian so lasagna and sauce and stuff.

usually it'd be I'd spend Thanksgiving with my dad and family up here, then spend Christmas with my mom and her family down south. last year I stayed up here though and Christmas eve went to my aunts with my family and dragged along FH. Christmas day went to FH's moms house with my dad and fh's family.
this thanksgiving we are all going to my aunt/uncles. fh, his mom, sister, my dad. then probably Christmas eve at my aunts again just me & fh and Christmas day fh's mom's again. my family lives out in northport and fh's mom is in nhp so it's too far to try to hit 2 places in 1 night. no idea how our holidays will be after we have kids. I imagine my mom will try to squeeze her time in there lol.
I flew down to her on Christmas day years ago with my ex, never again. the airport was insane. it's so hard when parents live out of state. you always end up ditching one.

Christmas is tough for us! Well, for him. He has a hard time parting with traditions. The first year we dated I spent both Eve & Day with his family! The second year I realized that wasn't fair to mine so I alternated but he came just for Day. This is the 5th Christmas we're spending as a couple and finally he's going to be joining my family for Eve!

Christmas is the worst!! I know we have ti do both families but both families do something on both days!!! Eve- his fam does the tradition Italian fish dinner. mine we do Spanish with my mom's side a nd we open gifts ( Kay year I had to leave in the middle of dinner to go to my fam bc we open gifts!)
DAY- 6am wake up call from the kids bc Santa came lol with his fam 11 am my grandpa house with the WHOLE family (22 of us) open gifts for prob about 2 hrs 3pm dinner with his immd family 5pm his aunt abd uncle's for his cousins bday if there is time dessert at My pared bra with my fam!!

I was hoing to make easter and thanksgiving a little easier for us but I dont for see that happening. I think bc in the post I left top go to ny fan without him bc we were just dating so maybe he doesn't realize I tight the timeline is. so technically he never experienced the stress of time on the holidays.

Typically Thanksgiving is pretty laid back and we love it! We have breakfast and either eggnog or spiced apple cider together in the morning and watch the parade and then I head to RVC to be with my family and he heads home bc he has work early the next day. Yesterday I had to go in to the dr for an emergency appt so I've been home the past two days and I'll be spending tonight/tomorrow in bed hopped on up pain meds When we move into our own place, we'll likely do Thanksgiving by ourselves or with our parents.
Christmas is absolutely my favorite time of the year but it's INSANE. Christmas Eve is my nephew's birthday so we go out for an early dinner with FH family and then spend the rest of the night at my sister's house.
Christmas Day we start out at our own houses, go to my brother's in E. Rockaway, my aunts in RVC and then his cousin's house in Wantaugh. Honestly, it's too much and really doesn't allow for us to thoroughly enjoy the holidays. We discussed that next year we may have our parents over the weekend after Christmas for dinner/drinks and gift exchanging so that we can stretch it out and really get to enjoy the time with our families.

oh my birthday throws a wrench in things too around xmas! it's the 28thso it's xmas eve, xmas day, my birthday, then new years it's alot in one week!

We do dessert at one house and dinner at the other and then do the opposite for Christmas. So if we have dinner with my family thanksgiving we will have dinner with his on Christmas and same for dessert. I just really love that we have so many people to spend time with I relish every second you never know when you could loose a lived one.

Our families are 5 hours apart, so it it impossible to do both in one day :( Last year we did separate holidays and he came down to LI on Christmas night to see my family. I'm not sure how Christmas will work this year, but I am currently with FH in Indiana visiting his mom's family for Thanksgiving. His parents and sisters went to Florida, so I won't know anyone besides FH. VERY intimidating! It is my first Thanksgiving away from my family, so I am pretty sad- but we will have to split holidays in the future so this is just the beginning!
