The only holidays that I insist on spending with Fh are Christmas, New Years, and 4th of July. Christmas and Christmas Eve are spent running around to see everybody. For holidays like Thanksgiving and Easter, we go our seperate ways and spend with our own sides of the family. I don't really care about this as I would rather be with my side of the family than to his side where I don't always feel comfortable. I was just wondering what everybody else does. I made a poll but please elaborate!

Exactly, it's just better that everyone comes to you as opposed to having to go here and then go there (like we have in the past). I just hope someone buys the rest of my china so I have enough plates

No matter what FH and I always go together. Sometimes it gets crazy (his parents are divorced so 2 sides there), but we always make it work. I'd rather be running around with him than with my family without him. We're more likely to spend time with my family though since his family is somewhat disfunctional (I hope I don't have lurkers!)

easter - mine mothers day - Fh's thanksgiving - mine xmas eve - Fh's xmas - mine
And we've done it that way for the past 7 years!

Our families have been doing joint holidays for years, either at our house or my parents house. Easter for example will be at our house the same with Mothers Day and Fathers Day. Christmas and Christmas Eve my parents and Thanksgiving our house. Works out VERY well!!!

we alternate thanksgiving (or split dinner and dessert), the day (or weekend) before xmas eve is my dad's house, xmas eve is with my mom's family, xmas is w/fh's family. nye we do our own thing. easter we split - breakfast is w/my mom's family and then dinner is with fh's family.
mostly we try to see everyone during the holidays but we're always together.

well if nicks home for the holidays we try and split them as best we can.. we usually do.. christmas eve with his family and christmas day with mine.. Thankgivings a toss up as well as every other holiday.. but hes never really home for them so i just spend them with my family.. and once we get married i will go to my inlaws for dessert if FH is working and im home! i love them like my own so i wouldnt mind!
This christmas if im not working which i prob will be.. eve will be at home with my fam. and christmas day with his fam. we alternate

we do every holiday together, but we rotate between his family and mine...except for xmas, we see both...my fam xmas eve and his fam xmas day.

We luck out in this area. I am Jewish and he is Catholic so we are together for every holiday.
For Thanksgiving my parents come with us to his family. My family is small and my sis goes to her in-laws that day.

They are usually split pretty evenly. Thanksgiving we always have a small appetizer lunch with his family and then we suck up the drive to NJ for my family. Christmas Eve we do at his parents with midnight mass with my parents as well as Christmas Day. Easter is usually another trip to NJ BC it usually falls around my sisters birthday and my family is more religious than his. New Years eve we have done altogether since it is our engagement anniversary and it had been the first time we celebrated as one family. THIS year FH has nominated me for all major holidays (the drive to NJ was out of control he gave up) and everyone was so ecstatic, I mostly received entertaining giftware for Christmas!

I think that what you have been doing for the holidays and what you will do when you are married will change. Also, with kids, things seem to change even more. I use to run everywhere. Once the kids came along, I stayed home for Christmas for many years. they are older now, so it is easier. I was married for many years but had an estranged relationship with my family. Now, with the FH, I talk to my family again. His mom lives in Fla, so we don't share the holidays with them. He is close to his brothers. I am divorced so I also have to split the holidays with the kids with the ex. i just take it as is it comes.

his parents only celebrate thanksgiving and christmas, so we try to spend time with each family. however his parents decided to go out to dinner at the exact same my parents were having christmas dinner and realized we could not do both so we had traditional christmas with my family and then presents with his family. i personally like my holiday food better.
