Re: NWR: where my dance teachers at??

Bump for dance chat!!

How are all my dance teachers doing? Whats going on around your studios? Have you started recital stuff yet? I need to get on it?! I still havent picked the songs for my teachers yet. Our theme this year is Celebration, so like a party theme.

Winter recital is on Saturday. Its more like a dinner theater. We are doing a spagetti dinner as a fundraiser for nationals this year. Although it has been stressful putting it together, it will also serve as dress rehearsal for their competition in two weeks.

Sr. trio still stressful, but getting better. I actually lost sleep over it last night, and had to pray on it this morning! Its such a good number I want it to be perfect!

It's crunch time here at the studio... with 5 weeks to go to our first competition were trying to clean clean clean!!!!!! But why is it some kids just dont get it? I want to bang my head into the wall
I tell them what you put into it is what you'll back but some of them seem not to care... oh well then when the walk away with anything less then the highest honors then cry and their parents want to blame it on me..... grrrrrrrrrrrrrr vent over

ps- hoping costumes will get here in time is not helping either!

We're going to Hall of Fame, its our first time going there and im a little nervous!

Having costume issues too!! I have been back and forth to the seamstress every day this week! Going back there today as soon as the fed ex man gets here with our shoes and stuff!

Still waiting for Kelle to ship the sr. trio costume and for the warm up suit people to ship the new kids suits!

You have to do whats best for you Tina. You have to put you first... SOmetimes its really really hard for dance teachers to realize that.

Sending you hugs

Were going to Access Broadway March 15th & 16th ..... I give you alot of credit working with a seamstress... I have no patience... I order everything... if people want to get thier solo costumes done by a seamstress.. I tell them what look I want and they have it done on thier own.

This is our first year ever trying a seamstress. Usually I order everything. Only a few peices were made by her, just the comp stuff. All recital costumes will be ordered. So far its ok, she can literally recreate any look from a picture. She makes wedding dresses, gowns, ect. She is this sweet old southern women.
I gave her this pic of a costume from a studio that we sometimes by used costumes from. There parents pay like 200.00 per costume and have them made in the NYC (there from North Carolina), the parents then sell them to other studios the next year for about 150.00 and under a costume. My parents won't pay that much for a costume, and I think thats crazy expensive. SO this particular costume was like 135.00, I showed her the picture and she charges us 50.00 per costume for labor, I bring her the fabric and stones. All together the parents paid 75.00 for the costume. Not too bad, since we usally pay like 60-65 for a comp costume ordered from Kelle. They will be done next saturday, I will let you know how they turn out!!

I agree....I mean the biggest thing for me is that she doesn't pay me on time AT ALL. Thank goodness I only work there 1 day a week so when I leave I'll still have work.

Re: NWR: where my dance teachers at??

Thank God!!! The Trio Actually Looked Good tonight!!!!!!

There still a few things to clean, just one of the girls who doesn't hold her center in her turns and is falling out of her triples, otherwise it looked good! Almost great! But at least tonight, I saw that the dance had real potential at being great!!!!

Re: NWR: where my dance teachers at??

So I picked a costume and the parents said it wasn't kid appropriate.......but I don't see ANYTHING wrong with it.....please tell me if I'm being irrational???

The girls are 9 to 11 and doing a piece to the Harry Potter theme song.

Re: NWR: where my dance teachers at??

I think it looks fine...
I usually cut off the heads of the models because sometimes that can influence how everyone looks at the costume!

to parents
