I was at home just getting up, I turned on the TV to check the weather, they just started showing the first tower on fire... I thought it was a joke, so I went out onto out balcony and sure enough the first tower was on fire... I took a picture of the tower burning because I thought it was going to be a cool picture to have not even realizing how serious everything was.... then I saw a plane fly over our building which I thought was strange since planes fly over our building but heading in the opposite direction... anyways, I went to the bathroom and then I heard people screaming on TV and I ran out to see the other tower burning and we all know what happened next

I lived downtown on east 7th street. My daily routine is to watch the news while I get ready for work. So at 8:43am I watched as the first plane hit the trade center on TV. I was just in complete shock. By the time I got to the subway I looked up Broadway to see the second plane hit the trade center. I was in total disbelief. I just could only think of getting touch with my dad which was impossible at that point. He worked across the street from the WTC. I finaly got in touch with my father right before the first tower fell. I just remember that they wouldn't let him evacuate the bulding. So after getting to work we watched everything in a meeting room on the 21st floor and watched the towers outside the meeting room as they crumbled.
Needless to say they let us leave work at that point which is in midtown. I walked back home as everyone was walking uptown. I grabbed a 12 pack and watched the rest of the spectacle from my roof as I waited for the rest of my friends and maybe family to come over since noone could get home. Finaly later that day about 4pm my father got intouch with me to let me know he was ok.
From that day on all of downtown was cordoned off from anyone that did not live there so it just looked like an absolute war zone covered in sot. I just remember the mayor saying...go about your day as if nothing ever happened...I never could understand that! All you had to do is walk outside or turn on the news and the devestation was everywhere. Odd how we remember things!

I was at work. I worked down on Hudson Street at the time, so when the first tower was hit our CEO's assistant (who had a full view of the towers from her office window) screamed). I ran into her office and everyone else who was there followed. We sat there for the next couple of hours and watched everything that followed. It was insane. We were so close we even saw the people jumping.

As close as we were, I (oddly enough) never felt that I was personally in danger. I only was scared for everyone directly involved. When they finally evacuated our building, my friend and I did the walk up to the 59th St. Bridge and over it into Queens, where luckily my roommate's boyfriend was waiting to pick us up. I was scared for everyone directly involved.

I really think that no matter how much time passes, whenever I think about everything that happened that day and in the aftermath I will cry. I've been lucky enough not to have lost anyone very close to me from the attacks. I pray for all of those who have.
