i was at Tompkins Square Dog Run... some guy was like 'the electricitys out in the city', he looked and sounded like a crackhead, which happens uite often, so we humored him and were like 'wow, really? oh yeah!' and teh n kev tried his cell phone and it didnt work and we heard a huge crash (that building in the city ) and we left. we had to walk across the williamsburg bridge on the HOTTEST day of the summer carrying two little dogs that seemed to weigh a ton! it was horrible. that night we had alotta fun though!

Re: NWR: Where Were You the Blackout?????
I was in your favorite place actually--Las Vegas. We were staying at the Bellagio for a week after I finished my summer job. I managed to get heat stroke every day so it was not as fun as it sounds. Vegas in August is like an oven...with the occasional margarita

Re: NWR: Where Were You the Blackout?????
I was walking a bunch of babies in a circle outside... so we were all confused when we got back from our walk to find all these parents frantically picking up their children about an hour earlier than usual...
Let me tell you though... crossing over 347 is NOT FUN without a traffic light... I never thought I was going to make it the final 100 feet to my house.... apparently the Terry/347 intersection was not important enough for cops to direct

i was at work, and they wouldn't freakin' let us leave. It was so pointless staying there! oh yeah, and the drive home was Great fun... it was before any cops decided to cover the intersections- there were pedestrians directing traffic, but, ummmm,,, they didnt really know what they were doing (though i was still greatful for them volunteering)

Iwas at work and they made us stay outside in the heat instead of inside in the cooled off rooms. It was awful.

Re: NWR: Where Were You the Blackout?????
I was at work in downtown Manhattan stuck on the 19th floor of the building. hmmmm...when something bad happens, I always seem to be stuck on an upper floor. That doesn't make me feel good since I now work on the 25th floor.

Re: NWR: Where Were You the Blackout?????
I was at work in midtown Manhattan, on the 18th Floor! It took us a while to decide what to do, so eventually myself and a co-worker went to a bosses penthouse loft in Tribeca to sit it out. We spent the evening on their terrace overlooking the river and got dinner and a bed for the night too. I really couldn't complain about that

Re: NWR: Where Were You the Blackout?????
On the 21st floor at work typing an important email. At first we heard the airconditioner go off, then we heard the pipes moan then the computer/lights went off. I got a call from one of my divisions downstairs and I said, well it looks like the building is out. Then my parents called from Queens and I realized it was the entire city.
I walked from 55/7 to 44/5 to pick up FMIL. Then walked over to 34/1 to catch Ferry into Queens. The walked to car and drove home with A/C on high - It was a long day.
But I got engaged the next day so it makes for a good story of how FH's plans got foiled!

I was at work in NYC. It wasn't too bad but the mad dash around Manhattan for ice was crazy.

Re: NWR: Where Were You the Blackout?????
Again, I was at work on Hudson St. in NYC. Our computers and lights went out, and then we found out about the blackout and they let us all go.
At first I was really nervous (flashbacks from 9/11), but it turned out to be SUCH a fun night. One of my work friends had us all back to her apt. in Battery Park City. We picked up some beers and food and had a picnic on the lawn along the river. Then we all went back up to her apt. for a party.
