NWR: Why can't families just TALK to each other?!
My father and my sister had a huge screaming-and-yelling fight (about my brother) a couple of weeks before my wedding. All assured me that it would not affect the wedding day. And it didn't, I was very happy.
But they're still not talking! My nephew's birthday came and went while we were on our honeymoon so we missed it. Mom is having a family BBQ on Sunday so I thought we could give him his present, give them their souvenirs, and show them our proofs that day.
I even had to convince my Mom and Dad to extend the invitation, they weren't even going to invite her and her family. So they put down their pride for the good of everyone, and now she says she won't come because of this fight. They both refuse to speak to each other till the other one apologizes.
So now, we don't get to see everyone at the same time, and have to run around doing all this individually because all of them are too damn STUBBORN to talk to each other! God forbid, because that MIGHT mean that you would have to admit you were WRONG about something.
Then I find out that my other sister who wasn't even invoved in this, is having a party this Saturday. My sister is invited, but not my parents. And she hasn't called me to invite us either. Even if you were planning on inviting us, today is Thursday. Are we that unimportant that you invite us less than 2 days before? You think we don't have other plans?
My mother said this is because it's a 'friends' party rather than a 'family' party. So why is my sister invited? And since when am I not considered a 'friend'? She was very clear at the wedding how happy she was that we recently became very close, much closer than we ever were as kids. I'll give you one guess what family member she was VERY close with all her life. Yup, my other sister. Until they had a falling out, then I came into the picture.
So now it appears that I'm on the outside of the sister relationship again. They've reconciled, my sister is buying a house 2 blocks away from the other sister, and she doesn't need me anymore. I even told her I didn't want that to happen to us and she assured me it wouldn't.
I can't believe all these people are older than me and they act like freaking children all the time. All my nieces and nephews are better behaved!![]()
Families. They make us crazy, don't they?![]()
