NWR - Why do people ALWAYS die at Christmas

My dad just called and my grandma's husband (dad's mom) died this morning. They found out around 1:00 a.m. He had a rare form of incurable cancer that his mom, aunt and other family members also had.

My grandpa (mom's side) died just before Christmas in 1995.

My heart goes out to you. we had the same thing happen to us this past Tuesday. My brother's soon-to-be wife, just had her mother pass away unexpectedly on Tuesday. Funeral arrangements are set for tomorrow with the burial on christmas eve. It is never a good time for a love one to pass away, but this time of the year is especially difficult. Please know that it may not seem like it, but with time it will get easier. Prayers for you and yours.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We are all here for you!

It's especially hard around this time of year. My FH just lost a friend in Iraq on Monday...it has been very difficult.

All the best.

I'm so very sorry. It hurts so much any time of year, but around the holidays it such a horrible reminder. I hope and pray your family gets the strength to make it through this difficult time.

So, so sorry! Several members of my family passed away around holiday times, starting with my grandpa (mom's dad) July 4, '88; grandma (dad's mom) on his birthday in '90; then my grandpa (dad's dad) 3 days before my mom's bday. Then when those times of the year roll around, you try not to be sad, but it's so hard.

And to think, my maternal grandma was in an accident on Saturday while out of town trying to help out my uncle and his pregnant wife. They all went to the hospital and grandma has 14 stitches across her eye. Thankfully she is okay and my uncle and his wife have a new baby girl - born a few weeks early since the accident caused contractions to start.

A new baby and a death in a week

So sorry for your loss. I still think about my grandpa Richard around the holidays. We will visit his gravesite this weekend.

It's also very freaky since my grandma's headstone is already there with her birthdate listed. She does not even flinch when we go to the gravesite. I am the one who always gets upset although I have seen it many times.

Re: NWR - Why do people ALWAYS die at Christmas

Thank you so much everyone. We are heading out today for VA for Christmas and also driving down to GA to make sure grandma really is okay (and to see the new baby).

In case I am not able to get on-line while on vacation, I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.
