Any wine experts out there? I had a glass of red wine with dinner the other night ,and FMIL inadvertently put it in the fridge. I took it out because I like red wine room temp....but now I wonder if it is ruined? Can wine 'skunk' like beer does?

No, wines don't get skunked, but they can spoil if they go through too many extreme temps. I think it should be fine. I prefer red wines at room temp or slightly cooler, but not cold at all.
Hope that helps.

Really? You never heard that when refering to beer? I've heard it soo many times when a beer is cold then room temp then cold... etc. It ruins the beer and then is refered to as 'skunked' b/c it gets a funny odor and taste.
Love my beer fresh and chilled!

The best way to extend the life of the wine is to make sure there is as little air as possible - this means having to store it in a smaller bottle so that the wine reaches the top. Leave it out for 20 minutes to reach room temp.
As a side note, cheap/bad wines are best served cold to mask the bad flavor.
Hope this helps!

Yup, air is worse than cold temps - air causes oxidation. Keeping it in the fridge is fine b/c it will control the temp and humidity a bit more, hopefully keeping it fresher. Leaving it out for about a half hour before drinking it will bring it down to room temp for you.
However, don't ever STORE wine in the fridge (even white) for more than a few days. It's too cold and not good for it.
We are such winos we have a small wine fridge -- but it's not enough for all the bottles we have.

Thanks for the help! I can't wait to finish it. It's a great red I've never had before, and I only had one glass, and LOVED IT!!!!
